Red and black fruits - a savoury plum character - also a note of creosote and tar. A lovely medium to full bodied palate - reeks of old vine Barossa Shiraz. Drinks well now but will easily last until 2030. Malcolm Stopp is the Brand Ambassador for Peter Lehmann and his comments are worth repeating, particularly the last sentence, “The bouquet beautifully incorporates dark briary fruits, chocolate and a touch of aniseed, whilst the finish is firm yet finely grained. A wine of great dignity that will continue to improve with still many years of careful cellaring. If you don’t like this wine there’s bugger all we can do……!!! — 9 months ago

My first Lauer GG, this is everything I love about his wines compacted like a crushed car into something so dense as to be almost unknowable. Would be curious to know how these drink decades beyond. — 7 years ago

Pretty darn close to old school Napa. — 3 years ago
25 year anniversary of this wine. I have been a Peter Franus fan for a long time. This zin is medium ruby, black and white pepper, clove, cedar, red cherry, vanilla on the nose--the wood is definitely pushing through, but not overpowering. On the palate, more blue/black fruit emerges, blackberry mainly. Tannins still pretty dry, alcohol high. I think this can rest even longer but it's great now too. Awesome!!!

Clear deep ruby in color. On the nose, it's clean with pronounced primary and secondary aromas of charred wood, black pepper, and black currant. On the palate, it's dry, with high acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, full body, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of eucalyptus, plum, leather, black cardamom, and tabacco smoke with a medium finish. This wine is complex, but a little lacking in fruit to balance the tannins. I'm hoping it opens up with time in the glass. Overall, I would rate this wine as good. It may be past its prime. After decanting and leaving it in the fridge for 3 days, it has opened up and is showing more fruit. The tannins have also calmed down. I'm bumping it up a few more points. — 9 months ago

Very nice, daily wine. fresh citrus and minerality with balanced acidity. — a year ago
A blend of 90% Sauv Blanc and 10% Semillon. Pale yellow color with aromas of citrus, floral, wet stone and tropical fruit. On the palate rich fruits of mango and peach flavors with citrus zest and earthy mineral notes on a balanced structure with lively fresh acidity. Long finish, pleasant ending with pronounced mineral character. Leave this in the cellar for a few years. Nice. Tasting Sample. — 3 years ago
