Cool how 8 years takes a good Chablis and makes it something else altogether (and for me profound). Sharp edges and tangy citrus have faded in favour of musky citrus and tropical fruit, an almost smoky resin and a long finish loaded with minerals. ❤️ — 5 years ago
One of my favourites so far. — 5 years ago
Clean, clear and bracingly mineral with lovely lemon citrus, Apple, smoky Flint and a hint of spicy lemongrass. Time in bottle has taken the razor edge off the acidity so the wine today is beautifully balanced — 6 years ago
Drank 7/3/18. Excellent pairing with shrimp in a butter and garlic sauce.
Nose of apple and pears, backed by some earthy elements. On the palate a medium to full mouthfeel yields flavors of green apple and pear backed by some subtle minerality and lemon curd. The flavors last on the finish for around 45 seconds. Very nice. If there is such thing as value in Burgundy, this is it. Enjoyed this more than the last time I drank it, though both were good experiences.

Young, but tasty. Much more full bodied than 2014. Blackberry with a touch of earth. Tannic with a tart acidity. Almost more cranberry on the finish. Think it needs more time, but good. A Gamay that can last!? — 8 years ago
Gorgeous Coonawarra, rich and luscious with slight hint of spice and nice tannin structure followed by decent dark fruits. — 8 years ago
Nice flavor with a bit of tannins for the finish. A good well balanced wine. — 5 years ago
Crimson with a Tawny rim showing its age. Mellow and resolved - round and soft at 17 years of age. Black Olive tapenade and chocolatey notes. Leading Australian Wine Scribe, James Halliday, describes Wynns Black Label Cabernet as “the most important Cabernet in Australia with a magnificent history “. The first vintage was 1954 and in a few months time when the 2018 is released it will be the 63rd. Amazing QPR - the current 2017 can be purchased for $31.90 AUD. The wine is matured in new (never more than 20%) and old French and American oak for between 12 and 18 months depending on vintage. — 5 years ago
Tasted in 2016: Medium pale straw color. Pronounced ripe apple notes combined with honeyed melons, calcareous clay, and hints of vanilla. Divine finish that lingers. — 7 years ago
Notes of dusty mulberries and blackberries - also olive. A beautiful balancing act of 60%Cabernet Sauvignon and 31%Merlot and 9% Shiraz. Very different to the 1996 Moss Wood had recently because of the Merlot in the blend. Good density and concentration. A class act. — 8 years ago
Nose is linear and soft. Lime, beer foam, chalk, apple blossom. Palate is juicy, broad, mouth-filling with loads of golden apple, lime, rocks, and underripe melon. Zippy. — 8 years ago
As per previous notes. Dense crimson in colour. Cedar, blackberry and geranium. To borrow HH’s phrase “effortless style”. Demonstrates why Coonawarra’s red dirt is marvellous for Cabernet. 96% Cabernet 4% Petit Verdot. The Tally is the top Cuvée from Balnaves. Rich, medium to full bodied. — 5 years ago
Mineral, oysters and pear on the nose. This smells like a coastal vacation to me. Medium bodied with a touch of effervescence- on the pallet, a honeyed, refined funkiness full of tart acidity and salty flavors- dry finish with the unmistakeable taste of olives. Absolutely fantastic. Drink if you love martinis

The Annual Wynnsday releases with winemaker Sue Hodder. This is the 62nd vintage of the Black Label - quite a heritage. This is a more elegant style from the cooler 2017 vintage following the warm 2016. There are black currant Cabernet aromas with Coonawarra mint in abundance. Sue says she likes to drink Black Label at around 8 to 12 years of age. I have had much older examples in pristine condition though. — 6 years ago
Juicy red berries, eucalyptus, intense floral notes. Super funky, but yet so balanced. Playful. Like butterfies in your belly, it’s like a crazy romance. One of the best I drank in 2017! — 7 years ago
Very pretty and consistent with the house style. I will say that I did not find it particularly Grand Cru. Never developed much length or complexity, though I can at least say it didn't feel manipulated and was a pure expression of Chablis. But 2014, I hoped for more? — 8 years ago
Bug Dun
A lovely full wine. Chocolate rounded flavours. Just the tiniest hint of powder. Blueberry sort of touches. Goes really well with Chocolate! — 4 years ago
