Alluring #sonomacoast #syrah - layered nose featuring black+blue jammy fruit and shades of northern Rhône smoked meat + olive notes. Tastes of dark fruit compote, bacon fat, leather framed by firm acidity and medium tannins. This set off beautifully against a Thanksgiving smoked brisket. — 4 years ago
Haha... just wrong. One of the most well integrated wines I have ever had. Thrown off not getting the typical smoked meat/ olive tapenade characteristics of northern Rhône. Dark red fruits, slate, gamy, fresh pepper and the right amount of funk. Simply sublime — 6 years ago
Love these wines. 2015 is excellent tonight after sufficient air, densely concentrated and a clear child of the solar 2015 vintage, wafting layers of dark fruit, olive tapenade, camphor, bacon fat and black truffle. The palate shows exceptional balance and detail despite the massive concentration and warm vintage with great acidity, melting tannins and superb length. Beautiful wine, but very young. — 9 months ago
Wonderful chinon. Have cab franc too infrequently, I think. Had an 89 of this bottle at Manhatta several years ago and enjoyed that too. Beautiful color in the glass. Quite restrained in a wonderful way. Definitely smells like cab franc. A hint of fruit. Some olive. Great refinement. Actually not a ton of acid but the finish is long and very nice. — 2 years ago

Beautiful biodynamic Syrah from Ardeché. After 90 minutes, showing with notes of blackberry jam, blueberry, green olive, cured meat, and a tiny hint of ink towards the very end. Silky smooth mouthfeel. — 5 years ago
Meaty, minty and peppery nose. Wow. So gamey and bloody. Pedal to the medal St. Joseph. Ultra traditional stuff here. Lots of olive and all on a serious granitic background. Palate is elegant and so refined but also has a wild side in that it’s super gamey, olivey and very supple and has good red berry sweetness. Really clean. These wines get cleaner every year without losing their feral edge. Very fine tannin. Also some youthful austerity. Needs air. I will be back. As this opens up exotic tea scents. Maybe oolong and Puer-eh. Great concentration and super silky and long. This is so good. 19 is also best vintage since 15. — 2 years ago
The name of the estate comes from "Ca' Pazzo", shown on ancient maps. Estate covers an area of 190 hectares, 54 which are vineyards, 4 are olive groves, 87 which are wooded and 45 are planted with new vines. Deep Ruby with a berry fruit aromas blossom and smoke, aged for 2 years on oak. On the palate cherry & strawberry flavors, with leather, cacao and tobacco notes. Lively acidity, fine approachable tannins, long ending with spicy oak finish. — 5 years ago
Deep purple color. Nose reminds me of plum sauce, blackberry bramble, black olive, cured meat, and leather. Nicely balanced with acidity on the palate, noticeable tannins, and notes of tobacco, cigar box, vanilla, graphite, and leather. — 6 years ago
