16,5+/20 — 9 years ago
I really, really am enchanted; nervy tension, luscious fruit, give it 15 minutes as starts out disjointed . Not bretty or funkified in the Raffault mold. High toned but enough of a growl to make it much more than a table wine. Johnnes selection, unsurprisingly. — 9 years ago
This was DELICIOUS! Love chinons and this one just stunned. Esp the nose — 6 years ago
Funny, when I first drank this my notes were a ‘meh’ kind of experience- just too shallow, the freshness & acidity there, nicely formed, slightly underripe blackberries, but it’s stuck in 2nd gear. After forgetting to get my notes down, I had a previously un recalled memory: the bottle really needs more time. I want to say it’s like a Raffault Chinon in its ‘dumb’ phase. — 7 years ago

Pretty funky upon opening. Horsey like a Raffault. But there is a sense of big cherry fruit lurking. Very floral as well. Some combo there of fresh flowers and horseshit. After 30-45 minutes the shit is gone and it’s all violets, earth and cherries. Awesome. Morel is magic. Palate is deep, raw like only Morel can be, with terrific freshness and acidity and a lovely rusticity. St Aubin Rouge are not the most elegant Burgundies but they have so much more than elegance. This wine is long. Really long. It’s a crazy wine that I think with 3-4 more years will really show well. This is like a young version of the 08. — 9 years ago

One of the best Cab Francs I’ve ever had ... stunning silky smooth vintage, profound complexity, yet subtle earth and finesse. — 7 years ago
One of my favorite Chinon producers for sure! 😬🍷😮🍷🔥 — 8 years ago
A blend of 60% Côt and 40% Cabernet Franc, with tiny amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Pineau d’Aunis, this chameleon of a wine starts out showing its Cabernet Franc character with dark fruit and herbs, then with some air the pure purple fruit Côt steps forward to lead the orchestra for a while, before receding to let the Cabernet Franc again command the stage, though this time in a more rustic, olive-tinged, herbal style that reminds me a lot of Olga Raffault's 2009 Chinon Les Picasses. It has plenty of tannin but plenty of fruit to keep it balanced. Fun, interesting, and pleasurable on a primal level that nourishes the soul and the body. Based on my experience with 1997, 1998, and 1999 Côts and the 1999 Cabernet in recent years, I expect that it has years of pleasure left to offer. — 8 years ago
