Nice way to ease into the weekend on this hot Texas day. Honeysuckle, lemon curd on the nose. Fresh, bright on the mid palate flashing tangerine, lemon rind and melon with acidity that tugs on your checks. Long spicy finish with white pepper and a hint of soy. Magnificent finish, wow! — 8 years ago
Fairly transparent for Barbera and light in alcohol at 13.5%. Lovely bright nose, ripe of red cherry with a floral twist. On the palate it tastes quite evolved with a secondary profile that is very appealing. Could almost pass for a barolo. Probably best Barbera I’ve tried and better than the Burlotto Aves and Vietti Scarrone tried alongside. — 4 years ago
Once in a while you just have to go for it. While touring the wine cellar at the Post Hotel in Lake Louise AB we noticed this bottle of Champagne. Pol Roger Brut according to legend was the preferred Champagne of Winston Churchill and is still enjoyed by Queen Elizabeth to this day. This vintage Champagne with its unique smooth effervescent mouth feel, hints of fruit and long lasting legs would still make the Prime Mister himself smile. Cheers 🥂 — 5 years ago
While sharing chateaubriand with Mrs A at the Post Hotel in Lake Louise AB we asked the hotel owner to pick the pairing wine. He selected a 2014 Aalto Ribera del Tempranillo to our pleasant surprise. The following are my tasting and consuming notes. The intoxicating rainbow aromas of licorice, black fruits, coffee and leather reflect the alternating layers of lime stone, marl, chalk under the silt and clay topsoil of this stellar appellation. The weather extremes of hot days, cool nights only adds to its exceptional phenolic presentation. Aged for 18 months in oak it displays bright acidity, fine grained tannins finishing with an integration of spices, herbs, woody tones and traces of vanilla. Medium-bodied, balanced, complex layering and long legs this wine proved to be the perfect pairing. Kudos to George Schwarz for this selection. Cheers 🍷 — 6 years ago
Dang! Delicious. Needed some time to open up. Have to agree that it drinks a lot like a Chablis. Lovely minerality, great acid drive, lime, grapefruit, lemongrass, honeysuckle, subtle vanilla notes.
First Cotat. Don't think it's unfair to compare it with a Dageneau, albeit prematurely (really need to be drinking more Cotat). Feel like it's like Chablis vs Chassange-Montrachet or smth. Cotat's more precise, elegant and Dageneau's (entry) more expressive, richer almost. AB needed to draw more conclusions. — 8 years ago

This Province Rosé is absolutely one of our favorites. The 2016 vintage was good this 2017 is very good and earns Mrs. A’s seal of approval. Light fruit aromas , blush in color, a clean crisp mouth feel displaying some complexity. Long legs for a Rosé with a slightly tart finish. Another fine selection from Metrovino Calgary, AB . 13% Alc/vol. — 6 years ago

@Lou Amdur so graciously shared a glass of this with me. Each sniff was like a tiny gift, and each sip was like unwrapping perfection (with a side of Marcona almonds). — 8 years ago

Apples on the nose, bone dry and very oxidised. Not sure I would buy this but it paired amazingly well with creamy fatty fish — 3 years ago
