Fully opaque ruby violet offering aromas of black cherry, cassis, cocoa powder, coffee, and cedar. Full bodied, soft, and fruit forward with incredible mid-palate density. The tannins are fine grained and alcohol is 14.6%. Made from a blend of 62% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot sourced from vineyards like Beckstoffer’s Orchard Lane and Dr. Crane and aged in 65% new French oak. Along with Duckhorn, this is one of my favorite California Merlots and is crafted by winemaker Benoit Touquette and consultant Michel Rolland to drink young. I favor a pop and pour approach. $95. — 8 years ago
Founded in 1982 Robert Talbott Sr., his wife Audrey, and their son Robb, with the planting of the 24-acre Diamond T Estate Vineyard and the construction of the first winery in Carmel Valley. Aromas of crisp fruit with scents of oak and floral. On the palate apple and pear flavors with sweet citrus notes and tangy acidity. Lingering finish ending with a creamy texture — 9 years ago
Robert Talbott Sr., his wife Audrey, and their son Robb moved to Carmel, California, in 1950, where they started a luxury tie company. During silk buying trips & visiting vineyards they became interested in fine wines, do in 1982 along with son Robb, started Talbott. Aromas of berry fruits and cedar notes. On the palate cherry and raspberry flavors with vanilla spice and oak notes. Well integrated, soft tannins on a medium finish ending with earthy mineral tones. — 9 years ago
We were pleasantly surprised with this wine. We drank it while we ate cioppino. It's not your typical Chardonnay. We tasted just the right amount of oak, low on acidity and picked up pineapple notes too. It reminded us of a 2012 Lioco Chardonnay we had when we dined at Coi. — 10 years ago
Deep red and packed a powerful punch of dark fruit aromas with mocha and mineral. The palate shows ripe blackberries and plums, with toasty oak, that the 4 grape blend adds complexity to the wine. The 2012 was an ideal growing season. The wine was aged for 18 months in French and American oak. I had this 6 months ago and, although young, had approachable fine tannins. The finish was well balanced with good acidity and a nice mineral edge. This wine should age well for a decade. A great value. — 10 years ago
Blackberry and oak, dark chocolate after taste, smooth and lighter than other sirahs — 10 years ago
Superbowl game time wine. Roberta's reserve is 100pct merlot. Cedar and cherries on the nose but this tastes like a s'more with bright acidity. Milk chocolate marshmallow roasted over oak and cedar campfire. Finish is graham crackers. Awesome merlot — 10 years ago

2006. One of our favorite weeknight wines from the late 90's and early 00's. Bought this one then ignored in the cellar...nice cherry flavors, a little spicy oak, the tannins are still there but smooth. Paired great with grilled strip, roasted cremini, and stilton. — 11 years ago
Sharp bing cherry and raspberry fruit with some oak. Medium finish. Great paired with roasted pork dinner. — 12 years ago
Blackberry, vanilla, black cherry, raspberry, licorice and oak. Great structure and soft tannins. — 7 years ago
Color of dark purple, bloody red, quite dark indeed. Nose of oak, ripe cherry, dried strawberries, green pepper, some grassy note. Taste is similar to the nose. Flavors are straight and plenty. Some more vanilla, black tea, spice, zest, and polished tannins. Aftertaste is smooth with some more raisin note. Well done. — 8 years ago
Good fruit. Nice amount of oak. Nice acidity. Well balanced. — 9 years ago
Price $45.
Bright ruby in color with a light reddish rim.
Wonderful nose of blueberries, cherries, red currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, figs, earth, graphite, cloves, wild wildflowers, red candy, spices, peppercorn and aluminum.
Medium bodied and velvety, with medium acidity and long legs.
Fruity on the palate and dry with with blackberries, blueberries, plums, oak, light vanilla, licorice, mint, metals, earth, red candy, spices, peppercorn, leather, smoke, coffee and chocolates.
Long finish with soft tannins and black pepper.
What a Great Napa Zinfandel from a great producer (their Petite Sirah was great too). Rich with a nice structure. Well balanced, with nice complexity and a tangy ending. Enjoyable by itself or with food, with a velvety mouthfeel. This Single Vineyard is Delicious.
I paired it with a cheese plate and crackers.
15.5% alcohol by volume. — 9 years ago
Delicious Chardonnay! Full bodied oak and butter sandwich of amazingness. — 10 years ago
I saved this bottle for a number of years and it was worth the wait!! Mild tannin and subtle American oak gave way to ripe dark fruit and a silky texture. Perfect for a cool spring evening with a porterhouse and some grilled veggies. — 10 years ago
My favorite california Chardonnay. Very balanced between the oak, tropical fruit and good acidity. 14.8 percent alcohol. Really round, full and smooth. Could use some aging. — 11 years ago
Update: 4 hrs in, this is singing. Acidity has calmed down a bit and fruit is showing more blue than red now. So silky. 95 now from initial 94.
Coravin’d the 2016 against this and it was nowhere near ready. The 2016 was dense closed primary fruit (think unsweetened fruit juice). Reminded me somewhat of the 2013 vintage for limerick. It needs time where this 2015 is very lively with minimal decanting. Good acidity. Tart bright brambly berry with baking spices. Pricey at 70 dollars but it’s a wine I look forward to trying every year. It’s a fun blend that showcases the fruit and terroir more than manipulation or oak influence (all neutral oak).

A solid piece of oak with a stick of butter on it, melting in the California Sun. Squeeze of lemon, it stays with you. — 8 years ago
Medium golden yellow in color with pale, watery rim. Aromatic with notes of honeysuckle, peach, vanilla, and lees. Slightly oily mouthfeel with flavors of stone fruit and prominent minerality leading to a crisp finish of medium length. Medium bodied, dry, very crisp acidity, and 13.9% alcohol. Blend of 91% Viognier and 9% Roussanne that is barrel fermented then aged on the lees in 18% new oak. Nice pairing with homemade Harissa Chicken. — 8 years ago
Clear wine, deep purple in colour.
The nose is clean with s medium (+) aroma intensity. The nose has black fruit (plum, black current) herbal eucalyptus, cedar & a resinous quality from oak. Savour leather from age.
The palate is rich presenting a dry wine of medium (+) acid, alcohol & tannin (soft) but pronounced flavours of black fruit, oak and spice (clove). The finish is long and very pleasant.
V. Good wine, can drink now but could age a few more years too. — 9 years ago
Really nice and well rounded smooth Pinot noir. Long finish red berry notes with hint of vanilla oak and cinnamon. — 10 years ago
What? Happy canyon SB? I don't know if it has any identity, as I have nothing to judge it against. But it's all sorts of green melon, pomelo, and maybe some oak? Wasn't expecting it, but there might be some barrel here. Worth a try. — 10 years ago
Has put on weight and filled out nicely. Light pear notes, acidity is good, and oak is in the background. — 11 years ago
Define oak taste but very balanced and not too dry. — 11 years ago
Randy Fuller
This Chardonnay carries a pale, golden hue, but struts in with a big, oaky nose, butter and butterscotch layering over the tropical fruit. The palate is just as bold, with oak spice leading the way here, too. The mouthfeel is full, but the acidity is sharp as a tack. Oak lingers on the finish, so be prepared for a wooden extravaganza. — 7 years ago
