Monte Serena

La Serena

Gemini Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

2004. Very good, but not as great as I had hoped. Taste and structure felt much older than I was anticipating for a 2004. Seemed like it might have been a little premature, but bottle and cork all looked in perfect condition. In any case, cherry, black pepper, a hint of meats, and a little must. Started to get pleasant notes of sweet tobacco on the second day. Very smooth with little tannin remaining in this bottle. Nice long finish. — 10 years ago

Our K&L Redwood City staff party at LB steak was fantastic- nothing smaller than magnum allowed! This double mag has been in our cellar since release and has hardly moved at all! Big, powerful, Mountain fruit! — 12 years ago

Estate Monte Bello Vineyard Merlot 2010

Paired well with a lamb, eggplant purée, fava beans, piquolo pepper. Would also pair with a medium rare magret duck or other game. — 11 years ago

Azienda Agricola Ca' del Monte

Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore Corvina Blend 2007

Had at thanksgiving 2014 with Fam. Everyone but Lisette really liked it. $21 at Urban Grape (5R).
Dried cherry on the nose. Licorice, funkiness/ mushrooms, earthiness, with a finish of black cherries. Smooth and lovely old-world drinking
