Dense red currant is ‘wrassled’ down by fennel aromas, mint and black cherry with strawberry and blackberry hidden beneath its thick canopy of fern and forrest; including moss and mushroom. Actually amazing! Not going to ever guess that this herbaceous monster with rim to rim colt density is an 11 yr old Calistoga! Meaty notes of grill and marinated fungi. Celeriac root, fennel and licorice notes define this angel with a minty coolness persisting! Blackberry and black cherry emerge in the finale to shine like young wine despite the years!#Larkmead #2007cab #Calistoga #Napa #napacab — 8 years ago
2014 nice, peppery/graphite, dark fruit, med body, med Tannins. — 8 years ago
BOOM! A monster and more suave and complex than I recall - although not showing much sign of age: ripe dark fruit, exotic spice, licorice, bay leaf, coffee - layered and drop dead sexy w/lamb shank — 10 years ago
Bright red fruit flavors with lush tannin. This wine can enjoyed on its own, with friends, on a sunny day. Or with rich duck confit and bbq'd red meats. Can't beat the price. -wine batman — 10 years ago
Wow. Monster grand cru burgundy. From Baden. Nose is licorice and cherry and spice. Palatebis Huge effing monster spicy cherry. Amazing texture. Palate coating like a paintball shot in the mouth. Internal aromatics are sick. Long clingy finish. Genius knows not of birthplace. — 8 years ago

Very acidic, pineapple notes but good over all — 8 years ago
Nice crisp chardonnay with a mellow fruit and citrus finish. Dry but not too dry finish on palate. Great to have with Lemon chicken, pesto, fruit and cheese. Nice everyday. Great buy at Costco. 2014 vintage. — 9 years ago
What a monster. So much tannins, fruit and acid. Needs another 20 years to really come around. — 9 years ago
Tannic, rustic monster. delicious! — 9 years ago
This might be the richest Hochrain I've ever had. It's a wine that usually comes across more sharp and spinal than the Singerriedel, and if that's still the case the Singerriedel must be a monster this year. This is deep and golden though with some fresh spring green flavors almost like a gruner, though it's still cut like an icicle. It keeps its chilling refreshment value even at room temperature even though that leaves the fruit totally uncoiled and showing off the wine's huge scale, just a big round ball of riesling sizzle. — 10 years ago
