Very good, bold but dark cherry notes — 4 months ago
Deep ruby in color; black currants, prunes, and pencil shavings on the nose; medium acidity; medium tannins; tastes like creme de cassis, black cherries, blackberry jam, and clay pots with a medium finish. Tastes like there is some residual sugar. Nellie says its ok. I like it. — 9 months ago
Mascota Vineyards – Eccentric Epic Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
Mendoza – Argentina 🇦🇷
Overview
Mascota’s Eccentric Epic wears its name proudly — this is Cabernet Sauvignon turned up a notch. From Mendoza’s high-altitude vineyards, it blends power, plush fruit, and a touch of flair, showing why Argentina is more than just Malbec country.
Aromas & Flavors
Bold waves of blackcurrant, blackberry, and ripe plum layered with cocoa, vanilla, and toasted spice. Subtle notes of dried herbs and graphite keep it grounded, adding complexity beneath the rich fruit.
Mouthfeel
Full-bodied and confident, with firm yet polished tannins. Velvety in texture, supported by refreshing acidity from cool mountain nights, finishing long and savory.
Food Pairings
Epic steak companion — think Argentine ribeye or asado. Equally delicious with lamb shanks, slow-braised short ribs, or a hearty pasta ragu. Aged cheeses bring out its darker, spiced side.
Verdict
As the name suggests, this Cabernet is eccentric in its boldness and epic in scale. Opulent and expressive now, but with enough backbone to develop beautifully in the cellar. 🍷 cheers! — 20 days ago
Lovely garnet colour. Dark fruit, some spice, a touch of mint and pencil shavings on the nose. Too sweet for my taste on the palate but good balance of acidity and ripe tannin. Plump ripe texture. — 4 months ago
— 7 months ago

Good Argentinian Cabernet. Mendoza is becoming a serious powerhouse in wine. Their Malbecs are impressive and now they are producing quality Cabs. $30 for a 1.5 L from Total Wines. — a month ago
