This is gorgeous. A soft edged nose with red and black cherry, dried roses. On the palate this is gorgeous and soft. The fruit is delicate and focused. Tobacco and soft wood notes come through later in the midpalate. Very classy and in great shape right now. — 3 years ago

More crappy wineVery good. Sweet, but not quite like the Marcarini. Good acidity I think. Would buy again. — 6 years ago
Mid crimson. The reasonably pale colour belies the power on the palate of this Barolo (La Morra). An earthy tarry note - a touch of mint. Medium to full bodied palate finishing with fine dry persistent tannins. I will be interested to see how my remaining 2 bottles will turn out. Should confidentally see out the 2020’s. — 2 months ago
Catsup and barbecue sauce on grilled chicken; heavy on the ginger and bursting with peppermint, allspice and peppercorn. Old one here, with brick red looks. Mint tea, gingerbread, ginseng, bay, violet extract, and ribbons of blood orange and clove, tell-tale tar, gum Arabic, and spiced tea cinnamon, orange, and nutmeg. Tastes like the season for every reason! #marcarini #marcarinichinato #chinato #vinoaromatizzato #piemonte #piedmont #chinchonacalisaya #lamorra #italianwine #seasonal #seasonalwine — 4 years ago

Rivetto winery visit
Very nice one! Perfumed aromas of hibiscus. Single vineyard of Barbaresco. Sourced grapes from long time partner. 2yrs in oak 70% Slavonian and 30% French barriques, followed by 6mo in bottle. €28 at the winery door is a bargain! — 6 years ago
Medium body. White meat / fish. Really nice. — 3 months ago
Pre-phylloxera vines over 100 years old. Was found at the warehouse. Decanted and changed super fast. Practically every sip was delicious. Def not in the best places but super interesting nonetheless. — 5 years ago
2014 still has room to run. Let it breathe. Very balanced. Nice perfumed nose. Easy tannins. 13.5%. Great approachable barolo. — 6 years ago

Marcarini is often underrated. Not in the very top tier in Piedmont, but with age I’ve routinely found that the wines exceed expectations. Especially the La Serra bottling. This one is real treat — a month ago
