Nice - noticed Columbia gorge and hope their grapes and house are ok.

Lokoya

Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Top 2-3 Napa Cabs I've ever had. Magical nose, cassis, cocoa, red flowers. Rich but nicely aged mid-palate, spreading into a wide swathe of candied red and black fruit, soft but powerful. Secondary stuff in spades. Then - an explosion at the back-end of cedary fruit and fig, tobacco, dark chocolate that lasted for >60 seconds. Just a monumental wine, sadly a solo.
This is note #500 for me, grateful to so many Delectable contributors who take the time to educate and expand my wine perspectives (or, in the case of
@Bill Bender...other stuff, too!). Thanks to @Anthony Lombardi @Kimberly Anderson @Jörgen Lindström Carlvik @Jeff Savigny@Ron R@Shawn R @Richard Steinberg @Martin G Rivard (who is living the dream), @Greg Gregory among so many others, not to mention @Roman Sukley with magical reach to inaccessible, iconic SQNs (and the will to pop them) and frank open perspectives from legendary winemakers like @Mike Smith and @Cathy Corison, you all make this a neat community of which I try to be a small contributor.
Finally - a renewed plea to
@Antonio Galloni to return "trending" to this community, as it was stolen by the bean counters! I'm no social media expert (I do have 2 teenagers!) but I'm pretty sure that "trending" speaks to the integrity and will to contribute of an entire community...take a look!

@Antonio Galloni thanks for your engagement and genuinely showing up - it's your show, we're all happy to contribute. @Anthony Lombardi knows his stuff, as ever, and the proof is at 39 likes and 32 comments, this post won't "trend"on Delectable for now because this other-worldly cab is not available through your channel...yet. @Bill Bender @Greg Gregory @Ron R @Martin G Rivard @Roman Sukley Bern's tough for me, but San Diego June 21st/22nd?? Let's make it happen, and thanks for all the warm regards! Great wine really only matters when you find great people to share it with...that's the big secret here we're all in on!

Belle Glos

Las Alturas Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2016

‘Las Alturas' Spanish for 'the heights', a fitting name, this vineyard located on one of the highest grape-growing benches in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. 4th gen Winemaker Joseph J. Wagner from family with farming & winemaking roots in Napa since 1906. Met Joe on a trip to CT, my last autographed bottle! Deep Ruby (darkest Pinot I have come across). Nice berry, floral and sweet spice aromas. Rich cherry/plum flavors with oak, spice and vanilla. Long ending with sweet oak notes. Nice! A Fav! — 5 years ago

La Rioja Alta

Gran Reserva 904 Rioja Tempranillo Graciano 2009

Pillars on which the 5 founding families erected a winery in 1890 built a way of living, feeling and producing wines of the highest quality that continue to evolve. Bright Ruby, complex fruit aromas, spice and oak. 90% Tempranillo & 10% Graciano, 48 mos on American oak. Ripe Berry fruits, powerful yet elegant, with spice & smoky notes on full tannins. Lingering finish, nice mouthfeel, ending with mineral earthy tones, a joy to Sip!! Tasting great, has more aging potential, try in 10+ years! Great Value! — 7 years ago

The Marigny Single Vineyard Series Roots Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Second bottle of this in as many weeks. This one was quite different than the first. Definitely a lot of VA in this one. Strong acetone smell for about the first 15 minutes but most of it eventually blew off. Less fruit-forward than the last bottle. — 6 years ago

Rippon Vineyard

Lake Wanaka Central Otago Osteiner 2016

Somm David T
9.0

The Osteiner grape is a German grape variety created from crossing of Riesling and Silvaner. Despite its German roots, Rippon is perhaps the most notable producer of this variety. Nose of lemon, lime, ripe melon and white fresh florals. On the palate, fresh, clean, round and brilliant. Beautiful acidity, lemon, lime, melon, stone fruits, pear, fruit blossoms and citrus peel. Another photo of their amazing view and owner Jo Mills with my wife. Jo is such a great host with amazing passion and energy for making great wine. — 9 years ago
