Of course the 2014 Chaillot is in its early stages (although it is considered to be an early maturing and approachable vintage for Northern Rhône), but a multi-hour pre-dinner decant served it well as it was very open, giving and multidimensional showing great depth, power and an elegant backbone. Black raspberries, liquid stones, violets and a hint of black olive. There is a great midpalate richness leading to a long, finessed and lifted finish. — 5 years ago
Bright lemony lifted nose. Chalky and very fresh. Sweet at the edges and bright and long. — 6 years ago
Lush, powerful and focused. Tremendous weight but still feels lifted by fresh acidity and the exotic spice character that I often get from red Altamont soils in this vineyard. The finish is an irresistible basket of ripe, bright red forest fruit that really is spellbinding in good vintages which 2013 certainly was. Incredible compliment to last night’s Chinese duck. — 7 years ago
Lifted dried cherries, with balsamic, roses and tobacco. Soft and smooth with rustic cherry pie flavors. Balanced with integrated tannins and juicy acidity. Finish is driven and lingers. Paired with pesto butter cedar smoked salmon. — 8 years ago
Black cherry and bramble, damp earth, lifted acidity 👌 — 8 years ago
Seemed more evolved than the 08. Less focused and lifted for me. Hazelnut, brioche and golden apple. Had a yeasty quality that didn't resonate with me and I think I enjoyed this vintage less than most who identified it as their favorite of the flight....but it was still wonderful. — 8 years ago
Lasted 15 minutes. Beautiful nose, fresh and lifted palate. Hints of funk and undergrowthiness. Nice work as always @Pax Mahle — 10 years ago
Solid vintage for this wine. Lifted red fruits and anise. Drinking well now. — 11 years ago
Smoking nose of bright tangy mid to late season red cherries. Ethereal, confectionary and gorgeous. Really bright and lifted. Expansive and deeply aromatic. Layered and full of nuance. Really terrific nose. 9.6. Just stunning. Palate is sweet, silky, gamey and just flat out gorgeous with a very expressive hit of delicate and elegant minerality. This is mindblowing. Did not expect this to be that great. Beautiful light and translucent color as well. Such fine tannins. Hit of licorice develops on the nose. Really wonderful sweetness but also terrific depth and such finesse. Usually Beaune is more bigger and brawny but this one. Blind I’d say Volnay. Very impressive. — 4 years ago
Deep and lush sweet lemon, honey, mint notes. Pretty acacia flowers and lifted precise yet lush fruit. Sweetness and criots lightness. Lovely stuff. — 6 years ago
The 2015 Masseto is simply extraordinary. Soft, silky and seamless, the 2015 possesses remarkable balance and harmony from the very first taste. What surprises me most about the 2015 is how fresh and vibrant the flavors are. Sweet red cherry, pomegranate, mint, and wild flowers are all beautifully lifted in this exquisitely perfumed, gracious Masseto. Despite the warm, drought conditions of the early summer, the 2015 is a wine of mid-weight structure, polish and restraint. In this tasting, it positively dazzles. I can't remember ever tasting a young Masseto with this much pure harmony. Other vintages have been super-impressive upon release. The 2004, 2006, 2010 and 2013 all come to mind. But the 2015 has a level of pure sensuality and allure none of those vintages had when young, with the possible exception of the 2004. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2018) — 8 years ago
Eventually opened up to some delicious lifted fruit and firm spicy tannin. — 8 years ago
Very deep yet light nose with really fresh Rick pools and that lifted raveneau chalky thing. Beautiful intense and complex fruit with surprisingly assertive acidity. Still young. Very dynamic and very long. Light but profound — 9 years ago
Lovely fruit sweetness, dry lingering finish. Equal parts syrup and zest, textural apricot and lifted green apple. A drink to make you happy. — 10 years ago
2005: gorgeous wine. Lifted aromatics, white flowers, very terroir driven with stony chalky notes, deft touches of green apple, pear and white peach. Gently integrated oak. Wonderful mouthfeel, light phenolics, lovely vibrant acidity. Very mineral led style. Is what a Grand Cru Chablis wishes it could be... — 11 years ago

Ooh. This is a seriously seductive wine. An opulent nose with rich blue fruit, blood, hints of leather, soft cherry, some lifted floral notes on the nose. In that perfect window of maturity where there s all kinds of complexity but the fruit is still there, but settled. A gamey, meaty midpalate with mint and dried herbs. Plush and great motion from first taste to the end palate which is long with superb balance. Really great stuff — 6 years ago
Tasted blind - Lanolin, hay, beeswax, yellow citrus. Lifted and floral. Super fun aromas. Think fruity pebbles Medium weight, with hints of creamy oak wrapping grapefruit pith and honey. Finishes fresh and crisp. — 7 years ago
Outperformed expectations. Lifted acidity and good tension on the palate — 8 years ago
This has a stunning, lifted powerful nose of apricot and a powerful exhilarating palate with driven fruit, sweetness and a blast of electric deft acidity. Amazing- I'd love to try this in 10 years — 8 years ago

2005 Marcarini "Brunate" Barolo - Pale and hazy ruby. Upon opening it smelled like a whiskey barrel. 2 hours later the aromas developed into iron/bloody/stoney mineral, leather and powdery floral notes with ripe earthy cherry. Great acidity, medium herbaceous driven tannins carefully lifted by the alcohol. Lean and dry chinato-like flavors of orange peel and red fruits. Great bitter herb finish. Decant for 3 hours and Drink now or hold for 10. — 10 years ago
Seductive nose, ripe blackberry and a telltale white pepper finish with a nicely lifted finish. Cofermented with Viogner and very Delish. Was a wonderful companion to ribs and rain at Kirkwood. — 11 years ago

Fun stuff. So lifted for a full body wine like this. Dark cherries, plums, herbs and hint of floral notes on the nose. Great acidity and structure. Balanced. — 4 years ago
