This was insanely gorgeous. At once lively and seductive, bright searing blood orange nose bordering on grapefruit zest leaping from the glass. Across the palate it was spherical and refined, silky tannin and well integrated spice and whole cluster structure. As it opened, it deepened, skirting the edges of hoisin sauce or teriyaki, and then after quite a while, the fruit regained a foothold and from within the symphony, a note of nori presented itself across the top. Really impressed overall. — 6 years ago
I am leaping with joy for the Stags Leap Cab. Bought it on our honeymoon in 2010 and much like my wife, it has aged beautifully. Wine has beautiful deep red color with light brownish edges. Red fruit on the nose, perfect balance of fruit, earth and oak. One of my faves. — 7 years ago
This wine has strong Burgundian lineage and while I generally think Carneros is a lesser region to other areas in Cali for Pinot Noir, this is a beauty. We spent an afternoon with Chris a few years ago and learned the true family nature of the wine’s production. It has it all, berries and spice leaping from the glass, a luxurious mouthfeel and texture and a super-long finish. Gotta get some more of this one. — 7 years ago
Super rich, sweet, yummy — 8 years ago
A luscious solid gold color in the glass with a highly expressive nose of apricots leaping at you. Lemon cream, maple syrup, and sweet pears run rampant. A touch of almonds to go with constant honey tips this off.
Similar to the Sauternes we all know and love, Monbazillac has a higher percentage of Muscadelle and are a bit more of a secret. Sweet but never cloyingly, there’s nice balance and focus instead of an overwrought syrupy mess. The palate follows the nose closely with all the apricots and pears you could ever want. Spice abounds, along with more almonds and molasses. A very pretty dessert but one with heft and character. — 5 years ago
This was so impressive and expressive. Leaping out of the glass. Pure joy to drink. A beautiful top end to it. Can’t believe it’s Auxey — 6 years ago
2015 - fruity notes and has unexpected crisp for a Chardonnay. — 6 years ago
This is the star of the show at this point! An oft-overlooked bottle from Montagne-St-Emilion comes out as a rockstar in the 2015 vintage. The nose is captivating with smoldering firewood and ground spices leaping out of the glass. The palate is textured with nutmeg and more spice, vanilla, and oak. Darker fruit, anise, wild black cherry, and a touch of smoke round out the palate. This is a definite winner, especially at the modest $30 price point. — 7 years ago
@delectable This is a Texan, not a Californian; Texas High Plains AVA to be exact. I'm speechless after this effort... insane character and uniqueness. Has it's own definitive style without losing the soul of Sauvignon Blanc. This is straight up radiating with energy.
My girl wanted in on this review. She's got a way with words that is one in a million 😜 So, here is our combined effort:
"Now featuring: The Green Elixir. Wisps of kiwi swiftly enter the nasal passage on command. Over-ripened sweet cantaloupe charges through leaping over fresh Bosc pears. Similar to walking through a field of freshly cut grass on a midsummer Sunday morning. Upon walking through the renewed grass, you will come across loamy soil, enveloped with sandy silt. Dandelions magically pop up along the adventurous route dancing lazily in the breeze.
Taste consistently bathes, not lingers, but bathes on the palate. Anyone ever kiss a lime rind? Experience it now with The Green Elixir. Sour, yet makes you yearn for more. Granny Smith apples frolic throughout the tastebuds. Heading towards the end of our adventure, straw begins to make an appearance and wants to join in the fun. At the peak of the completion of our endeavor, a special herb comes out to play. Lemon Basil pleasantly surprises you to make sure your finale is more than grand.
*Medium-plus acidity and Medium-minus body

Distinctive, with the Mourvèdre leaping out. Nice medium bodied wine. — 5 years ago
This Lodi Pinot Grigio is actually 80% that grape, with 5% splashes of Viognier, Chardonnay, Symphony and Chenin Blanc. The pale straw color leads to a floral and tropical nose, with citrus, green apples and pineapple on the palate. Acidity is nice, but not ripping. On the finish are red apples and lemons.

Been trying to track down the Comando G wines for ages, and though this may only be their village-level wine it did not disappoint. Leaping from the glass initially with aromas of Vicks 44, red licorice, and smoky spice, the wine quickly tightens up and starts to betray its granitic heritage, as well as a delightfully complexing barnyard-y, Bretty edge. Whole clusters lend a wonderful, angular frame of tannin that help to enclose a ripe, glossy core of red stone fruit (cherry, plum). The minerality here gives this otherwise punchy, mouthwatering wine a really effortless feel, like a raptor riding thermals. Gobsmacking stuff. — 6 years ago
2017 vintage tasted in 10/2018. Deep purple hue. Intensely perfumed with violets, practically leaping out of the glass. Full bodied but soft mouthfeel due to low acid and tannins. Fruity and dry. Exquisitely perfumed and quaffable red for only $15/bottle. Loved it. — 7 years ago
California butter, oak, buttered popcorn, citrus, and white florals on the nose. Palate also shows the same buttery oaky notes, but not as strong as some CA Chardonnay's. However, the mouthfeel does show it did spend some extra time on lees as it's creamy. Palate of; Lemon/lime, grapefruit, green apple, the oak on the palate shows a softer presence, secondary fruits are tropicals with dominate green melon, white flowers with good acidity and nice freshness. Spent 7 months in hogshead barrels (300 liters). Photos show the d'Arenberg cube that stands on the high hilltop. Opens later this year. I must say it really doesn't fit well into the McLaren Vale natural landscape in the other photo. Wonder how they got the plans approved with the MV Council?💰💰 — 8 years ago

A hair away from perfection. Aromatics leaping out of the glass. Crisp, intense, luxurious and just absolutely delicious. What a pleasure. — 4 years ago
