Laurel Glen Vineyard

Counterpoint Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1995

Structured and somewhat tannic still, still some primary fruit but I worry the tannins will outlast the fruit, impressive showing for the second wine of Laurel Glen, our good steaks are effectively cutting the tannins, very good Cal Cab!! — 4 months ago

@Ira Schwartz, I also had a 1986 Laurel Glen Cabernet next to the bottle above, will consume that soon! And, for @Tom Casagrande, this 1995 Counterpoint was 12.5% ABV!!

Gawd, I miss the old Patrick Campbell Laurel Glen efforts. Difficult to find his main label efforts.

Sequoia Grove

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Deep ruby color. Balanced tannins, with blackberry and dark fruit on the palate, then comes the spice, espresso, and cocoa on the finish. Love this wine for the price. — a month ago

Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

This really leans into the darker aspect of Cab. Dark cassis, loads of dark crushed stone, baker’s chocolate, dark iodiney savory notes. Intense in the mouth, but with surprisingly nice acids for its 14.9 frame. Rich, but bone dry. Still tannic, but it’s soft. — 2 months ago

Great especially with the extra time@and decanted but still not the favorite despite Oak Knoll. A bit dark maybe. — 3 months ago

Very good deep Rutherford flavor. Always feel like these are better left but still very good a this point. Likely would have been better decanted. — 2 months ago

Laurel Glen Vineyard

Sonoma Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 1986

Sweet dried redfruits and oak aromas, soft tannins, sweet fruit on palate as well, very fine acidity and depth, seems close to fully mature, but should last 3-5 years at least, kudos to Patrick Campbell, who made a lot of outstanding LG Cabernets back in the 1980s and 1990s, excellent Sonoma Mountain Cabernet!! — 2 months ago

So bloody jealous. Have been looking for the Laurel Glen cabs from 1985-1994 for ages without success. Formative for my nascent palate in the early 90's. Can't score a bottle to save my life. F.

Sequoia Grove

Reserve Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 1994

Opened a couple hours prior to service and enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 1994 “Estate Reserve” pours a slightly hazy garnet color with a near opaque core and some rim variation; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears and some sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated dark fruits: cassis, black cherry, green bell pepper, tobacco, potpourri, old leather bound books, beef broth, and organic dusty earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium (integrated) tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose with the addition of pomegranates. The finish is long. ABV is 12.5%!! This is about as old school as it gets and I’d be tempted to call this Left Bank Bordeaux if I was blinded. Wow. Drink now…but will probably live for another 10+ years if stored as well as this bottle (perfect). — 5 months ago

@ESF same! They were one of the Napa producers I cut my teeth on back in the day!
