Contrary to what the Delectable label says, this vintage is a Cab Sauv dominant blend (Merlot is 34%). Right now the cola and cherry notes are most prominent and the tobacco/cigar box notes follow on subtly. This is an elegant but easy to sip wine. It’s namesake does it justice too... it could easily age another decade or so. — 6 years ago

JL Southern Rhone tasting 11/15/16. Blanc. Nose that's more subtle and reserved with hints of melon and minerals. Palate very balanced and complex with medium finish that's supple with sense of rocks and minerals. Needs age me thinks. $34. — 9 years ago

Pale golden color, complex aging, 34% new French oak-15 months, 30% stainless-4 months; 18% in Foudre for 9 months; rest concrete egg for 14 months. Aromas of stone fruits, oak, nuts, floral and spice. On the palate flavors of peach and pear with honeysuckle, integrated toasty oak and nice citrus tang. Long finish, ending with a wet stone mineral character. Outstanding! Will age well! — 5 years ago

Great looking bottle with an into the neck fill. Opaque. At age 34 it’s still full garnet to the rim. Dark fruit nose. Notes of blackberries, fresh cut Cuban cigar, gravel stone, hickory, walnuts and a hint of menthol. Rich and powerful in the mouth. Still chewy. Tannins softened but still lingering. Gave it 4 hours in a decanter before approaching it. It probably needed more. Good stuff. Will certainly outlast me. — 5 years ago

A new experience for us tonight. A 34 year old C-D-P to celebrate our 36 year anniversary. Beautiful old red/orange color from the glass. Dried fruit and herbs, licorice and wet flint on the nose. Blend of 44 Merlot, 34 Cab Sauvignon, and the rest Cab Franc. Good wine, but I was expecting more complexity from this single vineyard blend. Nose of currants, chocolate, and spice.
