Dark fruit flavors like blackberries and dark cherries also tastes of dark chocolate and aged balsamic. This wine is very reduced. I don’t usually think of 18 years old as being very old for Châteauneuf-du-Pape but this one is showing its age. On the nose it gives balsamic reduction and dark cherry syrup. This wine has the nose of a vintage port. It does still have a good tannin structure. Very interesting. — 9 days ago
Nice, light body & mousse. Pear, red & green apple, pineapple, white peach, cream soda, vanillin, caramel & honey notes, light white spice, some nice yeastiness, bread dough, light & soft chalkiness/limestone, sea spray, white spring flowers w/ yellow lilies, soft, round acidity and a well balanced, rounded, elegant finish.
Disgorged 11/22. 80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay. — a day ago
Very nice Champagne with lovely yeast and brioche flavors. December 2022 disgorgement. — a month ago
Slightest pink tone to the Champagne. Lovely mouth filling texture! Pear and strawberry aromas. High acidity due to no MLF. A bit of yellow apple on the bud. — 2 months ago
Very delicious, smooth on the palate — 7 days ago
This has something for everyone. Zippy fruit, yeasty, and good depth. Best part is it isn’t crazy expensive for a comparative bottle — a month ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Charles "Champagne Charlie" Heidsieck was one of the first to recognize the importance of the U.S. as a Champagne market. A blend with 40% reserve wines, fruit and floral bouquet, with orange blossom & yeasty notes. Fine bubbles, nice mousse, showing quality. Outstanding rich flavors of apple, pear and biscuit, well balanced, good structure, creamy. Long finish ending with toasty nutty oak & mineral notes. — 16 days ago
