Think alpine strawberries. Well made but on the fruit side (in a good way for those of us that like that) 92% Meunier, 8% Pinot Noir disgorged 4/25/18. Dosage 6g/l. MS — 5 years ago

Still the best value in NV Chardonnay Grand Cru Champagne. So delicious! If you haven’t had it, K&L just got in another shipment of Launois. They have in stock two of Grand Crus and 08 Special Club. Get it in the next coupe or three days before it’s gone. You’ll thank me when you have it. — 8 years ago

This 2009 has not yet been released and is daringly dry at only 2.5 g/l of dosage. Composed of 1/3 each Meunier, Chardonnay & Pinot Noir from vines of around 25 years old. The ripeness of the 2009 vintage is front and center, with great Meunier fruit on the nose. Bright and driven on the finish! — 10 years ago

Le Cran Ludes 1er Cru Champagne Blend

Dégorgé: Nov/15, Dosage: 3g/l,
Outstanding, Bérêche has definitely redefined the quality that terroir driven Champagne can produce, needs a large glass/border-line decant, but the structure & noblesse are so well defined, excellent.

Yeah, you've got it. It's to separate those nasty aromas that you might get from mercaptin in unhealthy reduction environments. The winemaker at Von Winning first used it around me and I stole it from him. It's pretty complicated and I don't totally understand it, but it starts from having sufficient nitrogen levels in the ferment to create a healthy yeast population, from there it involves longer term lees aging. The lees act as a battery to suck up oxygen, so they keep the wine fresh, but they also impart and aroma, kind of like autolysis. For me it's easiest to spot in Burgundy because Chardonnay is so neutral. It shows up as a sort of shaving cream and marshmallow fluff aroma, sometimes mint. It also compliments mild new oak. Coche or Roulot would be big Burgundian practitioners, but there are many others. In the new world it's easily spotted on the Chardonnays of Kongsgaard, Sandhi, Aubert, Ceritas, Kumeu River and Montelena, just to name a few.
