Fall allocation just arrived at K&L and I have been out for sometime. Missed this extraordinary cuvée at a ridiculous QPR. Stocked up again. Cheers to that! 🍾🥂

Many previous notes stand.

Happy President’s Day Weekend. 🇺🇸 I hope you all have the day off tomorrow and can enjoy an extra night of wine indulgence.

Every time I open a bottle of the Launois Veuve Clemence, all I can’t think about is, I still haven’t had a better Blanc de Blanc Champagne at this price point and many others at higher price points yet.

The nose is fantastic...Meyer lemon, lime, grapefruit, ripe pineapple, green melon, green apple, cream soda, lemon meringue, whiff of ginger, soft, understated white spice, sea shells & diary, baguette crust, light volcanic minerals with spring flowers, fruit blossoms and yellow lilies.

The palate is rich, reductive and so fresh. Micro beads with near perfect acidity. Meyer lemon, lime, little bit of orange with a touch of rind, grapefruit, ripe pineapple, green melon, green & golden apple, cream soda, honeysuckle, lemon meringue, caramel notes, whiff of ginger, soft, more pronounced white spice on the palate that really penetrates the palate, sea shells & spray, baguette crust, light volcanic minerals with spring flowers, fruit blossoms and yellow lilies. The finish is rich, elegant, beautifully balanced and persists for minutes.

If you can have wine shipped from a California retailer, you owe it to yourself to try a bottle at only $44.99. Its worth twice that price. K&LWines.com.

Photos of, one of their Grand Cru vineyards, two areas in their champagne museum that represent everything about Champagne and winemaking since its beginnings and part the cellar buildings.

Just ridiculous good at just about any N/V price but, under $45, laughable. Written notes on the Cuvée a number of times previously.

So this happened in beautiful warm sunny California late afternoon. Time for some bubbles. Beautiful green apple, light colored citrus blend, ripe pineapple, amazing chalkiness & minerals. Micro bubbles, perfect acidity and rich long finish.

While this is not Krug, I believe it’s one of the best Grand Cru Blanc de Blanc Champagnes on the market. Especially, at its price point.

Second course. Radicchio, Fennel, Arugula, Walnut, Parmesan, Lemon Vinaigrette. Love the Launois and it hits the second course perfectly. Acidity matches acidity. This is also a crazy good/perfect palate refresher to close a full night of red wine. This Blanc de Blanc is the one of the very best values in Grand Cru Champagne. @PlateandBottle

A while back, I saw @David T post this claiming what an incredible champagne it was under $50 and wanted to try. Evidently, the US doesn’t get much and it’s an incredibly fast sell out wherever it lands. Thankfully, David was kind enough to help me get a bottle.

Lovely nose of baked bread and tart fruits. Minuscule bubbles! Wow. Almost looks like a still wine in the glass unless you have a magnifying glass to see the bubble strings. From beginning to finish though, the bubbles were so elegant and soft. Creamy texture. Green apple, pineapple, and a rocky/stone note. Very tart on the finish at first, but after warming up, flat out fantastic. If I could, I’d buy 6 bottles...if I could find it! Bravo, David!

Still the best value in NV Chardonnay Grand Cru Champagne. So delicious! If you haven’t had it, K&L just got in another shipment of Launois. They have in stock two of Grand Crus and 08 Special Club. Get it in the next coupe or three days before it’s gone. You’ll thank me when you have it.

The Launois Veuve Clemence remains one of our favorite N/V Grand Cru Champagne's and one the very best values in Champagne. Reductive in style. Always so delicate and soft on the palate. Micro bubbles. The fruit is soft, subtle yet full of flavor. Green apple, lime/lemon citrus, pineapple, ripe green melon, touch of cream soda, hint of honey, brioche, soft delicate chalky minerality, spring florals, soft, bright acidity and a round well polished finish. Damn tasty! Under $45 at K&L Wine Merchants. Get it while it remains in stock!!! It's either the only place to find it or 1 of 2 places in the country that Launois allows to represent them in the U.S.
