Everything is here in abundance. Maturity will magnify those traits.
What fascinates me is I believe it will drink beautifully at every stage of life but at the same time highlighting a different component. However at no point will one element dominate to shut this down and prevent it from providing immense drinking pleasure. Happy New Year everyone! — 6 years ago
Lekkerste rose die ik tot nu toe gehad heb. Licht droog en bloemig van smaak. — 7 years ago
Very enjoyable, found this very bold in the first taste and mellowed out towards the finish which was very smooth. Fruity and balanced. — 7 years ago
Very elegant but a tad reticent at the moment. Will give some more air and revisit. Edit: even with some more air time over two nights never really gave up too much. Could be the bottle is shut down at the moment or just might be what's left. — 7 years ago
Outstanding cab/merlot blend. Sister of sexual chocolate. Excellent price point. Around $20. — 7 years ago
For the price, this is a very good/every-day table wine. — 4 years ago
Waitrose. Delightful English white. Melon and peach, grassy and zesty freshness to it, slight acidity to cut through things but without lingering. — 6 years ago
Whole Foods, C Golden, apple, pear, nice acidity — 6 years ago
OK, I’m in. This English sparkling wine thing is legit. Fresh, crisp and nicely balanced toasty biscuit character. — 6 years ago
Hey nowwww! Concentrated and earthy, sweet red fruit, graphite, crushed rock, ripe blackberry and licorice infused fig. Perfect compliment to prime filet and foie gras at hands down the best meal I’ve had this year. My sincere thanks to @Eric LaMasters for creating and “le mastering” the entire week! — 7 years ago

So beautiful and clear in its purpose, titillating on the nose and fulfilling its promises beyond. Balanced and velvety dark red fruit, hints of black tea and cassis but all in a more Old than New World Gestalt. Lots of secondary stuff emerging you just want to sip it slowly. If anybody wonders how well these age, track one down, it’s so worth it. Kudos @Cathy Corison for making this distinctive and enduring bottle! — 7 years ago
It’s been open about 3 days and airing about 4 hours in the bottle. The nose is musky barnyard with wet oak, damp forest floor, wet leather and dark red fruit. There’s still some chalky tannins with acidity that rushes down the sides of your mouth and tongue. The red fruit carries forward, but more underripe with skins intact. It’s cleaner on the palate with a bit of damp cellar and dry earth, with notes of leather and red plum skin. The red plum and leather hang on into the finish. It’s a solid showing that I’d like to see where it develops over the next 3-5 years. — 6 years ago
An absolutely stunning lunch from @joe leatherwood today. 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 5 reds and 1 dessert wine. All served blind.
What a total treat. My second glass of this was very different from the first glass. At first, I was getting a lot of honeyed tropical fruits with a good bit of yeast, but then it was more bright, and had caramelized Granny Smith apple notes and classic chalky limestone. This is right down the middle in terms of reductive vs oxidative. I wish I could have enjoyed this all on its own to give it the attention it deserved. I guessed this was ‘06 Le Mesnil. — 6 years ago

Red, resinous currant with a licorice twist. Warm blackberry, dark toast, vanilla, cedar and sweet tabac seamlessly tailored, even at such a young age. Fresh gingerbread oven, too. Silk suit of tannins; loose stitching. Wound tightly showing sinewy potential and a Christmas cactus of sutured fruits bursting at the seams with liquid graphite and black currant reduction with fresh cassis and olive berry. Violets, treacle and black tea. The 2014 Pichon Lalande has the edge over Pichon Baron a few months ago. It is a tight race but here Pichon Lalande edges it. It has a wonderful, complex, intense bouquet with blackberry, briary, graphite and mint – just a straight-down-the-line Pauillac with all the aristocratic flair you look for. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, layers of pure black fruit laced with graphite and mint. It is blessed with a satin-like texture, not a hair out of place from start to finish, with a long, persistent aftertaste that completes a fabulous wine for the vintage. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2018) — 8 years ago

Columbia county 2.0: end of a meal, nightcap of sorts. So so perfumed with dill & vanilla & tree sap, as if Willy Wonka decided to get into winemaking. Really just lived for a while breathing this in. On palate it’s remarkably agile & light, even though the body of red fruits is firmly medium boned. No signs of decay or slowing down- even the cork was perfect-easily can go on another several decades ( it feels). God what a treat. — 3 years ago
