Spot on varietal profile. Nice. — 7 years ago
A lot of boxes ticked with a Thai chicken green curry tonight. Spot on! — 7 years ago
The cork appeared slightly dried out, but bottle was sound. Dusty and delicate aromas of dried rose petals and cedar. The tannins have softened and the black cherry, cracked pepper, gravel flavors give a very classic flavor profile. The alcohol seemed touch on “hot” side (13%). Good bottle, in good drinking spot — 8 years ago
I’m in St Emilion and everything tastes good but this is pretty spectacular. Spicy and tight but not brutalizing my tongue. The nose is that perfect combo of leather with dried fruit. Could use a few years. Like another 4-5. Tastes like a 49 euro wine so if you can get the 14/15s for less that $40 I’d jump on it. Pre game for our dinner at the local hot spot down the street. — 8 years ago
This is in a very good spot right now. I had the 2017 Les Aussigouins earlier this year and felt it was a bit disjointed and needed time. I would think this is drinking at about peak right now but it could still go for a few more years if you have a bottle around. This has some classic beeswax/lanolin character but really relies on its acid structure to carry it. Lots of minerality and texture. — 5 years ago
Normally one of my go to wines, when I want to drink something that I know will hit the spot. Somehow not as balanced to me today. I think that this wine does a lot better with food. By itself (this particular bottle) is a little on the tart side. Doesn’t mean that I’ll keep going back for more! — 5 years ago
Wow. So deep. But still a bit tight and bites down on the finish. The 2nd day hinted at the potential with a big open nose checking all the Syrah goodness boxes; flowers, smoked meats, etc. I'm going to wait a few years with my remaining bottles hoping to hit that perfect spot. — 6 years ago
I’ve always had a sweet spot for this producer. When I saw the WS rating, I had to try it.
It’s my sort of Napa cab, without the nosebleed at the checkout. Rich, plush nose of coffee and maple syrup. Presents with depth and texture on the palate. Tannins are ripe, indicating longevity. I’m going back to the well! — 7 years ago
This is so much better than my last btl..just incredible. On the nose: hoisin, dried blackberry, barbecue, dried leather, cedar chips..entirely tertiary, and yet so.vibrant. On the palate, spot-on acidity, dried blackberry, cedar...so clean still: delineated and a soft, finely grained, tannic finish. Absolutely stunning. My wife said it was the best wine she has had in ages. — 5 years ago
A few wines from last week’s 4th Friday event!
In a wonderful spot and classically classic. Could smell the herbs de Provence and old leather from the moment it was poured in the glass. More on the touch of blue and black fruit spectrum, with vanilla pipe tobacco, sweet tar, clove and even some smoked meat toward the finish. No hurry here, but it sure is enjoyable now. — 5 years ago
Very hot on the nose. cinnamon and caramel. Cut with a few drops of water and richness comes through. Amazingly long finish. Top notch. — 8 years ago
Another great Classic Wine Happy Hour in the books! Always a treat to have a designated day each month where guys can pull out some unique bottles!
This was courtesy of @Benjamin Keator and I freaking loved it. Felt like it was in a sweet spot. I believe it had been opened earlier in the day to give it some air, and by the time I had it, it was firing on all cylinders. Texture on the palate was excellent. Tannins were well integrated. Vanilla, blueberries, black licorice, cedar. — 8 years ago

Very different than what we usually drink. On the nose I get dusty & musty with my old dark fruit. On the pallet it confirms the dusty and musty but with gentle dark fruit notes. Medium acid and low alcohol. Not sure what the sweet spot is for the wine but it’s really good. — 5 years ago
