Still holds the crown as my favorite Napa Cabernet. There were few questionable reviews on the 2006's out there, so I was a little nervous. Uncorked for 4-6 hours and then decanted for another ~1.5-2. She sipped nicely at first pop and once we poured at dinner she was ready to go. Velvety tannins. Long finish. Fruit definitely still there but more mellowed out. Melt in your mouth good. Looking forward to my last bottle in a few years. — 7 years ago
uncorked. chard fruit on nose, full body, a little creamy almost malo but not according to winemaker, great acid balance — 7 years ago
Overall great. Best to let it breathe for a bit at first - there was a strong tar vibe when I first uncorked it. Beyond that, a surprisingly light feel, with notes of plum and general savoryness. — 8 years ago
Discovered in my wine collection this 18 year old Tempranillo crianza from Altos de Rioja. Worried about having gone bad. As soon as as uncorked it knew it was fine. Cork was fine and got a burst of bouquet. Amazing for an inexpensive young Rioja to be so good. Smooth and velvety as Tempranillo should be. Good with grilled red snapper. Life is good. — 8 years ago
I've written about this wine before. Ron's wines never cease to amaze me. Uncorked and poured, at 1st glance it seemed extremely closed and unforgiving BUT give it 30 minutes and it blows up!!!! Lush dark fruit, some leather and on the back palate a touch chocolate. This is drinking like a badass rockstar., Big, bold & unapologetic but has a touch of class that seduces you into taking another sip....at which point the roller coaster starts all over again. Outstanding!! Just what I love in a Napa cab!! Buying a case is like having front row seats., you won't be disappointed!! 👌🍷🍷👌@Andrew Donovan @Megan Callahan — 9 years ago
Rich inviting nose - earthy leathery and that classic Rioja bell pepper aroma, though it's more subtle and sophisticated. I'm impatient and haven't let this just uncorked bottle open up yet. Stay tuned! — 9 years ago
Delicious!! One of my faves from Uncorked. — 6 years ago
Well balanced lovely. A modest winery with no ritzy fan fair. Just producers of fine wines. My 2nd foray into the Fairview brand. Greeted by a couple of very friendly poochies 🐶🐕 and you walk into a very small show area. Very welcoming and friendly. Makes me want to support our local industry for sure. The BEAR is a full bodied Bordeaux style blend of Cab suave, Merlot, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot. Referred to as the "Bear Meritage" A great I known and winery to many. Paired well with home style burgers with aged cheddar and seasoned fries.. man was it good. The wine just cut the food with finesse and a high level of satisfaction. My just loved and she is picky. A lovely lady with Italian heritage who first drank wine when she was 5...lol.. knows a thing or 2 about wine so when we uncorked this baby, nothing but smiles. Cheers Fairview!!!! — 7 years ago
@David L @Carl Fischer @Ron R @Joe Lucca @Kirk Alexander Christine & I had dinner with my buddy Kirk and his beatific wife Veronica. I uncorked this one since it had been such a reliable pour the last time I opened it. However, in New York it had disappointed all of us. I am back to being disappointed. This is the type of bottle that you have to open by itself and not showcase it against any other as it will swiftly retreat into the shadows. Light on the palate, super short finish. This bottle came in dead last tonight. I can't believe the other that I opened impressed me that much that night. I don't do this often but I will knock it down to an 8.9. — 8 years ago
People on this board seem to dislike this wine. Yes it is California rich and heavy I get that but it is also quite herbaceous which I find interesting. This wine has been sitting uncorked in the wine store for 2 days. It's alive and well. Relative big fruit, plums, spicy a really good deal for CA pinot. — 9 years ago
Uncorked ~30m, then ~15m rest in glass.
Nose has oxidized yellow apple, white flowers and fresh baked bread.
Palate has buttery yellow apple mash, oxidized strawberry, great mineral balance and a long finish.
I've finally met a Brice bottle I can fully embrace, this vintage selection is just perfect, approachable in its youth and quite elegant. — 6 years ago
Tasted at Uncorked in Squaw village- California Pinot with a bit of an old world style. Great Pinot (But pretty high retail) — 7 years ago
