Really good Chianti Classico! A gift from Rich & Susan from our Independence Day party. Thanks! — 7 years ago
Label is very Declaration of Independence or Constitution looking style. Not sure there are many Federalist in Dry Creek Valley in the liberal bastion of Sonoma county, but hey, it’s catchy. Lovely color of blood in a test tube. Smells clean, clear and lovely. Rocks, leather and, berry jams. Flavors are classic CA fine wine. Zingy, dry and herbal. Some spice. Like a nutmeg or black pepper spice. More of a coast Zin style than Syrah. But the Syrah does have its role in there. This is a nice gratifying wine with lots of complex flavors. Amazing because it’s coming in HOT at 15% ABV. Must have been very dry and hot in 2015 over there. This could age a bit into itself too. Nice juice. — 3 years ago
The wine tonight on the eve of our 4th of July, our Independence Day, I have opened the 2016 Rizzi Barbaresco Azendia Vitivinicola from Treiso, Italy.
On the nose there is is cherry, raspberry, strawberry, licorice, herbs, dried roses, light oak and earth.
The palate gives me cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, licorice, tar, spices, herbs, dried roses and dry dusty soil.
This wine is medium to full bodied smooth mouthfeel with medium to medium + acidity and high mouth coating astringent sandpaper tannins that gives you long red fruit earthy finish. I continue to wish everyone a enjoyable holiday weekend, please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 4 years ago
Brought home from a CA trip, finally opened and find it quite nice! As others have mentioned there are chocolate and “jammy” notes. Quite nice indeed. — 5 years ago
