Broad fruit.Some tertiary stuff. Citrus confit. Poached pears. Coconut. Plenty of acid keeps it fresh. 14.1 maybe a touch hot on the finish if I’m bring a critic, but this is complex and delicious. Hits its stride with an hour of air. // edit: left 200ml in the bottle overnight in the fridge. Still delicious on day two but definitely verging oxidized and better yesterday. Best Hyde ever!!!
Tropical fruit, great body, terrific purity, good acidity & a long, concentrated mouthfeel. Time in the glass brings out this Chardonnay’s death. Drinking well now. Will only get better in a year or so. It will be hard for me to keep my hands off a bottle.

@Mike R : We need to update the identified wine. It’s the Hyde Vineyard chard.

When TOR recommended opening a 2018 Hyde Chardonnay, I thought they were crazy. I normally get ripping acidity on most Hyde Chards, so they normally need some time to balance out. I have to admit, they were right about this being accessible early. Wow! One of the best Hyde chards I’ve had, and this is going to get better. Copious amounts of tropical aromatics (mango, white peach, passion fruit) with sea salt and honeysuckle. Nervy and energetic in profile. Still quite a bit of acidity, but it has a creaminess up front that is wonderful. Lemon cream, orange blossom, underripe peach, and sea salt at first before a mineral streak down the middle finishes it off. Slight note of crushed rock and oyster shell too. Evolved in the glass after each pour. Delicious!

Double decant and pour. A striking dark ruby red color. On the nose: brambly cherry, forest floor, raspberry, clove, dried herbs. Taste: smooth, creamy, rich, juicy wine with sweet cherry, cedar, orange rind, earth, and a peppery strawberry medium finish. YUM! — 9 months ago

Solid 95. Almost want to give this one a 96. If I was planning to stay longer, this wine would have been within arm's length of me at all times. Full-bodied, correct Syrah done extremely well from Hyde fruit. Pours with a purple hue, with a delicate yet complex nose of herbs, flowers, mint(?), chocolate, and fruit. The entry of this wine is powerful. Lots of dark fruit with a hint of chocolate. The middle is balanced buy an herbal quality did I would stop really short of calling a funkiness in the traditional sense. It seems to touch down on these notes to give you just enough of a hint. Finishes with an earthy and Dusty resin, but it is quite fruity on the Finish as well. This was the most balanced wine on the table. Gave you every single characteristic you could hope to obtain in a Syrah. Bravo @Weston Eidson I will be buying me sommathis!! Has the structure to go 10 years. — 6 years ago

Whomever said this needs airtime is dead on. I gassed this with oxygen and let it breathe for 2 hours and it still was just beginning to show its fruit at the tail end.

I would aerate and give a solid 3-4 hour decant next time.
