Head to head vs. Kumeu River Hunting Hill (same price @$40). Another impressive Chardonnay. Slight baked apple and pear, tons of crushed wet rock, some burnt wood. Very subtle and restrained nose. Incredibly focused on the palate, quite rich texture but the acidity is beautiful. Great balance and integration. No oak detected. I prefer Kumeu River slightly more but this is also fantastic without a doubt! — 8 years ago
It could sit a bit longer but ever last sip was enjoyed. A dirty Pinot noir that has great earthy tones, muddy some may say with a short finish. My last bottle, will be hunting out more. — 9 years ago
Lovely fragrant notes of violets, chocolate, dark fruits.... rhubarb, plums

This exuberance is exactly what I'm hunting, the most delicious Chardy at the most affordable price. The first Bourgogne Blanc ever that impressed me so much. Perfect balance between sexy acidity and right oak treatment. The medium full body makes it so drinkable. At $30, it's a killer — 10 years ago

Been hunting to find a good rose in my usual price range. Had this at a baby shower and thought it was perfect! Not overly sweet — 8 years ago
That is my hunting wine. I have several different years stashed away with little matter of tasting nuances. It's our tradition of harvesting game, the careful processing of it - and the first consumption of a filet or backstrap — 9 years ago
Gordon's Spanish tasting 9/21/16. Floral nose that's hunting at stones. Palate that's balanced and on the elegant side. Medium finish off red fruits. A bit like Burg. — 9 years ago

My in-laws frequent Cabo often and claim that they’ve found some impressive wines from Mexico/Baja region. They enjoy fine wine, so I trusted their opinion and went hunting. This winery is supposedly one of the top wineries in Mexico, and I was able to find the last 3 bottles (at the time) in the US as the winery was sold out. We had dinner with them at my wife and I’s favorite spot in Fort Worth and I surprised them with this wine.
Pours dark and inky. Aromatically, this was a circus bash of red, blue and black fruit. There was also some black peppercorn and cedar. The front and mid-palate were dense...oak wasn’t dominant, just an absolute rush of fresh squeezed fruit. Finish was spice driven. Blind, I would have likely called this a zin/petite sirah blend (but structure kept this from being an overblown, hot, flabby Napa style zin). Very unique and enjoyable. Bravo Mexico/Baja! — 8 years ago
Hunting the wine list and found this gem. Veeder is my go to. Then I learn it's from Chris Carpenter!! #chriscarpenterisgod in my book. Fruit exploded with no decanting. Very dark in color, blueberry, slate, and incredibly full bodied. Paired well with crab cake and bone-in filet. On my list for next Napa trip. — 9 years ago
Superb oddball grown along the northernmost reaches of the Tuscan coast. Opens with bright acidity like wild raspberries & bing cherries, but as this Vermentino Nero catches air, plums, a kiss of figs, and savory herbs emerge with very fine & mellow tannins. Worth hunting down! — 9 years ago
A joyous celebration in the bottle. Worth hunting down. — 10 years ago
beautiful palatine riesling!
it's all about texture and tension, not overt fruit or mineral hunting.
our only and slight concern was the bottle may have been stored little too warm - the riesling felt older than 2007. — 10 years ago

2012 Two Brothers Hop Juice Black. This black ipa is now tasting amazing, almost like a stout. I'm hunting for more now. — 13 years ago

I am always hunting complex Grenache but this one takes the literal cake. Round and full, this wine sits in your mouth and just won’t leave with a subtle smoky earthiness and undeniable power. — 7 years ago
