Head to head vs. Kumeu River Hunting Hill (same price @$40). Another impressive Chardonnay. Slight baked apple and pear, tons of crushed wet rock, some burnt wood. Very subtle and restrained nose. Incredibly focused on the palate, quite rich texture but the acidity is beautiful. Great balance and integration. No oak detected. I prefer Kumeu River slightly more but this is also fantastic without a doubt!

Rich and creamy, but with a light cool fruit profile. Medium plus acidity provides a framework for a wine that is powerful, but avoids being oaky buttery.

Out of mag. Nice, clean, great balance, but I found it to be rather normal course. Perhaps in mag it just needs some more time but not sure.
