Clean red/blue fruit with touch of earth. Not particularly complex. — 5 years ago
I tried both the 18 and 19 and liked both, but bought the 18. I was surprised to like the 18 more given the vintage, but I guess that’s why we shouldn’t assume before tasting! — 5 years ago
For London Lees Edi Steph Cindy David Day late BD dinner and Edi’s afternoon request. Nice golden amber color and nicely balanced floral unctuous profile. — 3 years ago
Blinded a dear buddy in the wine trade on this tonight, guesses all over the place, in a great spot, want to see this in 10+Y.
72H Update:
Nose has crushed blackberries, ripe plum, dried plum, dried tart cherries, moist mahogany and faint moist soil. Palate has tart plum, light molasses, blackberry compote, faint leather notes and fine tannins. Not as good as day one, but no slouch on day three. A wonderful experience, many years in the bottle to go ahead. — 3 years ago
Tried this vintage last summer, and then had it this fall twice. Continues to impress! — 5 years ago
We had the pleasure of opening the 2021 Hermann J. Wiemer.
On the nose there was nice strawberry, cranberry, raspberry, herbaceous notes and green bell pepper.
On the palate there was good strawberry, raspberry, red plum, green bell pepper, a bit of oak and crushed gravel.
This is a medium bodied wine with light velvety mouthfeel medium to medium + acidity and medium to medium + fine tannins that leaves with a medium to medium + red fruit gravel dust finish. Well it looks as though spring can't make up her mind. This weekend looks to be a bit on the cooler side so lets get out and enjoy ourselves. Please stay safe and healthy. The 2016 is delicious. Also tried the 2019 but the 2016 was the clear winner. — 5 years ago
