Third wine in flight four for the Bordeaux Master's Class at Heart's Delight with wines from Saint Julien and Pauillac.
Deep ruby core. Nose was coated with sweet spices, and dark fruits. Solid acidity and medium tannins (6.5/10). Medium plus bodied and mute. Dark and rustic, a touch savory, and earthy. Dry and mouth watering with a long finish. Drink till 2035. — 9 years ago
Fourth red in flight two for the Bordeaux Master's Class at Heart's Delight with all wines from Pessac-Léognan.
Deep and dark ruby red. Rich nose with sweet spices, cinnamon, dark cocoa and a touch of red fruit. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium plus body. Similar notes on the palate with red berries, cinnamon and a touch of bitterness. Stoney and dry long finish. Just a baby and needs time to fully integrate. Drink till 2037. (90+) — 9 years ago
Citrus! Lemon, maybe a hint of grapefruit; then a bit of pineapple, a stray pine needle; ginger. Delicious. — 5 years ago
Gorgeous black fruit compote bramble and needle-blanket black-soil tea, an autumn mouthful in spring, perfect timing for this topsy-turvy world. Park a recent one for a score. — 6 years ago

Deep ruby red. A bit of heat on the nose with toasty notes, cinnamon and cassis. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium to full bodied. Palate has nose of red cherries and some earthiness. Still a baby. Dry and long finish. Drink from 2020 till 2035. — 9 years ago

First wine in flight three for the Bordeaux Master's Class at Heart's Delight with all wines from Margaux.
Medium to deep ruby red. Layered nose with an attack of blackberries and cinnamon. Followed by an undertone of red cherries. Heavy tannins (7/10) with a touch gritty in texture, almost like a soft sandpaper. Quite a bit of a acidity but still balanced with notes of yeast, sweet spices, cinnamon, vanilla, and dark black fruits. Dry medium plus to full body with a long finish. Drink till 2037+. (91+) — 9 years ago
Reviewed upon opening. Structured and firm still, yet a tad hot on the nose and palette with kirsch and anise flavors. Nice complements of herbal tea, mushroom, pine needle, underbrush with a charming balance with will likely take over with a little air time on the bottle. In a good place yet could go another 2-3 years nicely. Wonderful wine — 10 years ago
This is a full bodied old vine Riesling that is still crisp and dry. There is citrus, petrol and minerality on the nose. The front has a hint of petrol that finishes with green apple. Very enjoyable. — 6 years ago
I’m not a Pinot guy but this threads the needle between the body of a Sonoma PN with the verve and acidity of a Burgundy. — 7 years ago
Very smooth, great by itself or pairing. — 8 years ago
Absolutely fantastic. Light, airy, not too sweet. White wine perfection. — 9 years ago
Third wine in flight three for the Bordeaux Master's Class at Heart's Delight with all wines from Margaux.
Medium ruby red with a dark core. Honestly, was very surprised with this. Seemed more New World over Old World. Tons of sweet spices, loaded dark juicy berries, and definitely some oaky influence as well. Balanced acidity and heavy tannins (7/10). Light red fruit like red currants on the palate with some stoney and woody characteristics. Medium plus body with a long finish. Definitely a baby and needs some time to hopefully improve. Drink till 2035. — 9 years ago

Brought to Tasting Group. My first of three bottles. Popped and poured, enjoyed over two days. Day 1 was tasted blind. This wine comes across quite primary with powerful, stewed bramble fruit, baking chocolate and baking spice notes indicating the potential use of French barrique. Medium-plus tannin. Medium acid. Overall, this is a good and enjoyable wine...but nothing really pushing the needle if I'm being honest. Most around the table declared it Bordeaux. None called Southern Rhône. Everyone was surprised when it was revealed, including me, which expected more considering my usually appreciation for this producer's CdP (known to have an unusually large amount of Mourvedre in the blend). The interesting thing was the French barrique call as I understand this wine to be aged exclusively in concrete...?? Day 2, the fruit was softer and slightly more muted. The stewed characteristics were enhanced and the structure seemed to be receding. Perhaps too early to tell where this is headed...or perhaps this just isn't the strongest vintage from Mas de Boislauzon. I have two more so we will see how some cellar time treats these. — 5 years ago
