It has been 15 years or so since I’ve had a Silver Oak. Thought I check in. Nothing has changed, every vintage basically tastes the same. It almost like they add flavoring. 🤷♂️ One red you could not fool me blind. Short Rib was excellent.
At Pebble Beach Food & Wine 2025.
The ticket to this event has a pretty big price tag. But when you consider what a Napa etc. tasting or two and lunch would cost you, you are pretty much there and there is so much more than that. It ends up having great value. It’s wine, spirits and food candy land. — 6 months ago
Classic CdP and an iconic producer. Blackberry, dark fruits, herbs, spice, olive, earth. Full bodied, but low-to-medium tannins and great concentration. Fantastic with Mediterranean food. — 8 months ago
Vanilla covers the fruit, great with chocolate. — 10 years ago
A soft and smooth red blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah. Dark fruit, with mocha, vanilla and spice. Great length and more complexity then a close-counterpart in McManis. This is yummy. 2012. — 11 years ago
From mag. Dark intense gravelly fruit. Leather and sour cherry. Serious and bridging still. Great aged Bordeaux. — 5 months ago

Delish. Well done. Perfect amounts of wood, fruit and earth. Great balance. Awesome if you can find for under $28 these days. — 4 years ago

Meaty and intense. Lush with violets, a deep purity and smoothly intense. Really great stuff. A little more powerful than the 82 alongside but a whisper less refined — 6 months ago
Great tannins, balance, nose. Still quite young. — 7 months ago

The final wine at the First Growth Bordeaux Lunch at the Downs Club last Saturday…. and what a great way to finish a wonderful lineup. I recall Apricot and Pear on a palate of profound intensity which delivers on the powerful nose. An obviously sweet palate with enough racy acid to keep things interesting and fresh. Will last until the late 2030s at least. Terrific! — 5 months ago
