18-. Very sophisticated wine. Smooth, deep, long. The epitome of serious Rioja. Not spectacular, but give me more. — 2 months ago
Presented to me double-blind at Tasting Group. The wine is a deep ruby color with a slightly purple hue; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. No signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of black and red fruit: Ranier cherries and blackberries along with some dried earth, soft wood notes, some faint baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins (that seem to build) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and comes off a touch reserved in the end. Initial conclusions: this could be a Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Grenache-based blend or Bordeaux-blend from either Spain, Italy, France, the United States or Australia but the fruit doesn’t impress so I’m leaning away from the New World. I don’t get enough candied fruit to put me in the Southern Rhone and I think the oak treatment seems a bit liberal for that. And if this Sangiovese, I would be pissed. So I’m calling Tempranillo, from Spain, Rioja, Reserva, 2018. Daaaaang. I was close. Drink now with patience and enjoy through 2036.

2017 vintage was solid. Great with charcuterie. For the price not a bad choice. — 6 months ago

Medium body Rioja. Our selection from Spain for our 2024 Wine & Bourbon Tasting. Definitely my top Rioja to date. — 2 months ago
Stunning Gran Reserva. In a league of it's own — 2 months ago
For those who love Riojas, this is excellent. Tobacco, vanilla, and cherry are my favorites. — 3 months ago
A lot of body and texture, with smooth tannin and not too dry — 3 months ago
Deep Ruby with an elegant bouquet of ripe berry fruits, pepper spice with earthy tones, a traditional Rioja. On the palate flavors of plum and jammy cherry, tobacco, oak, pepper spice, lively acidity. Fine chewy tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, oak, spice and an earthy character. — 4 months ago

Plum, blackberry, cherry, vanilla, and tobacco on the nose. Earthy. Hint of smoke on the palate. Moderate acidity and smooth tannins.

Tempranillo tasting! Aromas of red cherry, red plum, muddy grass, and mushroom. Medium acid and body. Notes of leather, dried cherries, and slate. Longer, silky finish. — 3 months ago
Quite deep ruby , with a wide garnet rim, quite young looking. Dried herbs , smoked meat , red cherry, violets , liquorice and antique furniture polish notes . On the palate quite round and rich, sweet red fruits , with that herbal tinge , those liquorice and charcuterie notes also evident . This in fact still shows well a day later , still quite full and rich , with red plum and black cherry notes . Quite good acidity , with quite gritty tannins, balanced alcohol . Decent length . This is very good now though no rush , mature but will continue to show well for a while longer , from now over the next 5 years . Another T Wright Wine choice … see my De Fieuzal 1994 note — 5 months ago

Dark ruby hue. Exquisite bouquet of fruit, with aromas of blueberry, pepper, plum, saline, vanilla. Plus body, with plus tannins and plus acid. Superbly balanced and elegant, with a lengthy, memorable finish. Tannins are already well-integrated, but this is something to drink on special occasions. 85% Cabernet Franc, 15% Malbec. — 2 months ago
