Give it plenty of time in the glass or ideally in a decanter. It is a beautiful wine that needs time to open. Great effort in an off year. — 2 years ago

Dry Roero Arneis 2019

Peach fuzz, pineapple, and sea spray. Zippy acid with excellent mid palate weight. Orchard fruits with a pleasantly soapy minerality to finish. Good stuff! Thanks @Ryan Maxwell — 3 years ago

Asili Riserva Barbaresco Nebbiolo 1996

Was honestly a bit disappointed this relative to some other wines from him. Ie was excellent out of the bottle but I think it might have gotten over decanted 4 hrs post opening. Surprisingly I liked the 1996 Barolo from him better — 6 months ago

Valmaggiore Nebbiolo d'Alba 2021

Deep Ruby color with aromas of rich berry fruits and floral spice, aged for 14 months in French oak. On the palate flavors of cherry, plum and raspberry flavors, with leather, cacao, spice, herbs and tobacco notes. Lively acidity, fine chewy tannins, medium+ finish ending with spicy mineral and earthy oak. Nice! — 8 months ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2016

N: Decanted 3 hrs. Reddish brown.
Big cherry liqueur nose, chocolate, leather. the woods, autumnal spice.
I detect French barrique.
P: Classic young Barolo, lots of mouth filling , Dark cherries, cocoa, herbs, cheek gripping tannins.
You can sense the barrique but it’s not overdone. W Bolognese, it’s really nice.
My thought is that many of the ‘16’s were designed for earlier drinking, esp. w the use of barrique.
I reduced my score a couple pts. after extended time out.The fruit didn’t cover the wood. A trifle disappointed.

Le Rocche Del Falletto Di Serralunga D'Alba Riserva Barolo Nebbiolo

Unlike the barbaresco, this got WAY better with time in the decanter. Much more structure vs the barbaresco and more depth. It was still quite tanic out of the bottle but with time it all became well integrated. — 6 months ago

Fratelli Martini

Collezione Marchesini Montepulciano D'Abruzzo

Headline: “damn near perfect” not dry, not bitter, not sweet, not watery, just lovely balance all around. If you’re looking for a defining characteristic it’s that there is none. Some would say the greatest designs goes unnoticed. I would also say that the greatest wines should lay in a similar vein. There is no one flavor or characteristic about it that is overpowering the rest. — 7 months ago

Basarin Vigna Gianmaté Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2018

Reddish in color.

Fruity nose and medium in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with red currants, fresh cherries, light oak, herbs, light earth, spices, chocolates and peppercorn.

Medium finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This 6 year old feels very young at the moment. Fruity with mild complexity. Soft and smooth. Elegant with good structure.

Needs time to open up properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

Wine Enthusiasts 91 points.

100% Nebbiolo grapes were aged for 2 years in large French oak barrels.

15% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$65.
