Anwilka Petit Frère Syrah Blend

I really love this wine, and bought several bottles after a SA wine tasting. Unfortunately I didn’t keep good notes, but I remember it being easy drinking and a good pairing with food or alone. — 6 years ago

Carnuntum Cuvée Zweigelt 2018

Solid, but not memorable. Some green vegetable notes the first day, but on second and third days it was more pristine and elegant. — 5 years ago

Pinot Noir 2015

Austrian Pinot Noir coming a long way. Lush red fruit supported by good acid. Plush, and you might not think it was Austrian if tasted blind. There is some oak there, needs time to open. — 8 years ago

Knights Valley Cabernet Franc 2009

So, I’m of the opinion that Gerhard Reisacher’s sweet spot is Cabernet Franc. This 2009 isn’t quite as good as his 2007 - that is the best 100% cab franc I’ve ever had - but this is damn close. No trace of the bell pepper you typically get from people picking the fruit too early, this is a terrific wine with notes of something reminiscent of roasted chipotle pepper, black pepper, and currant. Medium-to-full bodied palate with a silky, mouthfilling feel leading to a lingering finish. This is nothing like a cab franc from The Loire - pure California - but a terrific wine nonetheless. Winemakers would do well to take lessons from Gerhart on how to handle this varietal. — 5 years ago

Riesling 2000

Förtrollande färg. Honung, saffran, torkade kryddor, nektarin och lite kex. Angränsar halvtorr men nog den ganska låga syran som lurar än. Oavsett, väldigt gott. — 7 years ago
