Clear, pale ruby in color; on the nose, it's clean with medium intensity primary aromas of bananas, tart cherries, and violets; on the palate, it's dry with high acidity, low tannins, medium alcohol, light body, and pronounced primary flavors of pomegranates, strawberry jolly ranchers, and clay pots with a medium finish. Blend of 70% Grenache, 17% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah & 3% Cinsault, deep Ruby color with aromas of berry fruits, oak and floral spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with oak, herb spice and floral notes. Wine was complex and elegant with fine smooth tannins, long fruit and spicy finish. Pop and pour. Notes from 4 hrs open. On the nose: freshly cut honeysuckle, then loads of flowers, mint, soft honey and wet stone. Opened just prior to dinner. The 2008 Coteau de Vernon pours a deep straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of peach cup with the pears and cherry too. There’s white flowers, honey, fresh mint and other herbs too. Wow! On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and oily. This bottle came across young. A benchmark Condrieu. Drink now through 2038. — 5 months ago
