Exceeded My Expectations & My Clients’ ~ D!G
Bouquet of apples, shortbread, peach, citrus blossoms, viburnum & vanilla
What strikes first on the palate is an electric streak of citrus: lemon oil, hard lime candy & tangerine zest ~ then it broadens to apricot & poached apples ~ with a gentle embrace of oak contrasted by flecks of flint

1996 Leroy Clos de Vougeot. Dinner at Flx w B&V G. Decanted a little while during dinner. Loved this. Really balanced. No cloying sweetness. Long finish. — 7 years ago
This is a lovely wine from one of the masters of premier and grand Cru Chablis, Patrick Pizza. Lean, cleanly mineral on the nose, crisp well-balanced acidity in the mouth. Great wines by the glass at B&G Oysters — 8 years ago
One of my favorite dinners was on the menu here at Chez Skip - cassoulet! And my knowledge of wine pairing is as sophisticated as a toddler eating spaghetti, I said to myself - hey I am eating French food and I like this French wine, so hey why not? And that was that. But as wine can be, it evoked its memory of when I had it first. I remember sitting out in the patio and being impressed with it. I thought to myself I could really enjoy French wines, but as history has shown, that was clearly a short lived notion.
Knowing it had been some time, I had an odd feeling, so I checked my Delectable history. Indeed, this was the very first wine I had rated!
So, to my friends, do you remember your first wine on here? Was it anything memorable? @philip Angino @Martin A. Magnum 1999 Domaine G. Roumier Bonnes Mares burgundy. Big group lunch at The I while B&M Sh were visiting. Drank this after the 3L Gaja Barbaresco and glad we did- more complex, deeper in flavor, and bigger. This wine was absolutely perfect. Needed quite a bit of time to open up. Had that slight sweetness, but not overly so. Lots of fruit. Exactly how K enjoys a burgundy. Big wine and could definitely hold for quite a while longer. — 9 years ago

Mildly acidic but bright Grüner in Toronto, and with haddock at B&G Oysters, Sotheby’s End, Boston — 6 years ago
Medium ruby core with garnet edges. Aged characteristics on the nose with damp earth, a little espresso, a touch smoky, cinnamon and stewed plums. Medium tannins (6/10) and plus medium body. Dark cocoa on the attack of the palate intermingled with plums, black currants, black cherries and lots of spices. A bit of anise and the Petit Verdot coming through in the medium plus finish. Drink till 2018.

I have known for years that Paso Robles makes great wine. This is an excellent example of what perfect weather, abundant water and great soils can produce. Deep rich dark fruit and extremely fine silky tannins! @Paul T @Ron R @Jim Trobaugh @Bill Bender @Jacqueline @Eric Shanks @Connor McMahon @Martin G Rivard — 8 years ago
1999 Hubert Lignier Clos de la Roche burgundy. Dinner at The G w J&L B and B&K K. Big wine dinner, starting with a 1958 Borgogno and followed by this wine. We decanted this immediately upon being seated and let it breathe for a good hour before pouring. Still huge and a little tight at first, but opened up pretty quickly in the glass. Just got better and better. Big hit. — 8 years ago
