Not a perfect bottle, initially dominated by VA, but with aeration it did show finesse and black pepper spice balanced by tart red berries. Elegantly constructed.

1999 DRC Grands Echezeaux. Boy G at HB w B&K K. Tight at first, but hoped it would open up. It did, but unfortunately, that only made the wine slightly better. It is just going through a funky phase. K noted that it wasn't the first time we thought that abt this vintage recently and should hold off until it comes back around.
