Deep, heady, dizzying nose of strawberry compote, cherry liquer, sandalwood, maybe some eucalyptus, and other exotic woods.
palate also brings damp earth, light rose , and a slight sanguine note. More muscular Than I would have expected out of a volnay. But at the same time precise and fresh with energizing acidity creating a nervy tension. Sensational

Patrick Arnould passed over 2009 & 2010, but decided to make this 2011- a strange decision on paper. This all old-vine Pinot blanc de noir has it where it counts- in the bottle. Only 60 bottles for the USA, now 59. This seems lighter than past vintages, but still has that Nutella like hazelnut character that screams Verzenay. I will wait a year or two to have my next bottle for sure... But this long wine sure did go down easy last night! — 7 years ago

Well knit, liking the structure here, there’s some sinew but all im balance and agreeable. This could blossom more in bottle, almost regretted pulling the cork. Night 2 gave more Volnay charm with its perfume and cool and vivid fruit. — 10 months ago

Notes from 3 hrs open. Lovely oxidative style, but good freshness to complement. On the nose: honey, marzipan, lemon oil, a shimmer of copper. On the palate, lovely mousse, fantastic acidity, very focused on the palate, with floral honey and lemon. Very clean finish. — 4 years ago

Haven’t had these wines in a while so it was great to get reacquainted. Great balance/length, focused with nice generosity and texture. Well made. Stonefruit, yellow apple/pear, flowers and wintergreen, integrated lees work and barrel. — 5 years ago

12.5%. Very very good. Hint of brett - tart and closed. But boy is this complex. Earthy, Kashmir red pepper, perhaps even a hint of tomatoes 🍅. Orange bitters on the back palate. Like silk much better than many Burgs I had in the last six months. From Max Kogod and I will buy the last bottle and the other cuvée from this producer best Trousseau I had in a long time! — 5 years ago

Sarrazin’s Chardonnay wines are definitely the feature attraction. But this vieilles vignes Pinot Noir has lovely fruit, delicate floral aromas and excellent freshness. Very solid effort, if not terribly complex. — 5 years ago
