See previous note in August 2022. Vines planted in 1961 in the Eden Valley. A fuller riper style than the usual Pewsey Vale - still finishing dry. Aromatics of Lemon and Lime. The terroir and the quality of the fruit showing through. Not a hint of TDN (Kerosene/Petrol) showing through. Could cellar for another 3 to 4 years if desired up to its 10th birthday. — 9 months ago

An Aussie Riesling that I, a Canadian Riesling “freak,” can happily knock back. Too bad we couldn’t arrange an on-the-spot tasting at the winery the other day. — 7 years ago
Mount Edelstone is Stephen’s favourite Henschke vineyard - planted in 1912 by Colin Angas and sold to Cyril Henschke in 1974. I have 7 vintages of Mt Edelstone in my home cellar but somehow missed the 2013 so I bought a bottle -released from the Henschke museum. This was absolutely delicious and early in its drinking window is to 2045+. Chosen for the masterclass to taste beside the current release 2019 as they were both from drought years. A beautiful fragrant perfume. Black pepper, sage, spice and plum pudding. First released at 6 years of age. A brilliant wine. Particularly loved by my wife Barb. — 5 months ago
Medium straw lemon , with hint of green . Shows a touch of age with slight petrol notes along with the lemongrass , smoky , spicy , ripe apple . On the palate good density , with a creamy richness , those lemongrass , ripe apple , slightly spicy notes . Slightly rich and weighty though with lovely balanced acidity and good length . Really good now though can go a further 5-8 years without too much problem — 9 months ago
Honeysuckle, unctuous and textural. A medium to full bodied white. Handpicked and wild fermented in old French Oak. Yalumba have now been working with this varietal for 40 years in the Eden Valley which has proven to be an ideal terroir for Viognier. The best example of a straight Viognier available in Australia and Yalumba’s flagship white. — a year ago
Powerful aromatics that speak to Aussie Riesling... Key lime, grapefruit, lemon zest, and petrol - think fresh tennis balls. Bounding acidity meets ripe, juicy tropical fruit, as this maintains a dry, lasting finish. Paired with spicy curry, but would also go great poolside in the summer. Fun fact: Vineyard planted in 1912. Outstanding effort. 11% ABV — 6 years ago
Lovely wine, would be even better with a bit more age. Paired it with some Barramundi and worked a treat. Good balance between the young fruity Riesling flavours and a hint of the petrol-esque notes of the older rieslings. — 7 months ago
Delicious but a stupid cork - why oh why? — 4 years ago
Medium bodied with zesty citrus and underripe stone fruit. Crisp, clean, and petrol-y. — 5 years ago
