Elegant, medium-bodied, typical style for an Argentine cab franc. Dry, a bit acidic and tannic, berries, peppers, licorice. Long finish. Great, and amazing value for just under $20. — 5 years ago
Great Argentine blend of Malbec 67%, Cab Franc 26% and Syrah7% — 6 years ago
CARO, alliance between 2 wine cultures (French and Argentine), 2 noble grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec), and 2 wine families (Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and Nicolas Catena). Blend of 75% Malbec & 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. Complex aromas of dark berry fruits, smoke and earthy spice. On palate blackberry, raspberry and sweet cherry, cedar, nuts and burnt cacao. Developed tannins, well balanced on lingering finish ending with espresso and mineral tones. Great but keep in Cellar for few years. — 7 years ago

An Argentine Malbec? Why yes, I believe I will! — 5 years ago
The wines are the result of a shared passion of three winemakers: Paul Hobbs & Argentine parters Andrea Marchiori & Luis Barraud. Dark red with aromas of dark berry fruits and enticing spices. On the palate ripe blackberry & blueberry flavors, currant like, with notes of cacao, oak and sweet spice. Fine tannins, lingering, nice balance, ending with a pleasant spice. — 5 years ago
I’m beginning to enjoy the other varietals (than Malbec) produces in these Argentine Andean souls at high altitudes more and more. This 70% Cab / 30% Syrah blend is a lovely example of a refined mix giving intense new world character with the subtleties of old world wine making. The terroir comes thru in notes of gravel and rosemary. The fruit is big but it mildly dissipates in a most pleasant way. Drank it with a cheesy vegetable casserole with mushrooms and herbed garlic tomato sauce base... a great pairing! — 6 years ago
Many years back, this was my introduction to Argentine Malbec. Inky black fruit, long complex finish with gentle tannins. — 7 years ago
Great wine! Complex and fruity without being overly sweet. Perfect for Argentine grilling! — 8 years ago
Drank this after the Argentine watching Hillary at the DNC — 8 years ago
2005 vintage. Incredibly elegant, yet powerful. Big blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, cedar, grilled tarragon, black stones. Fruit quality is extremely fresh, which is pretty remarkable considering its age. Easily the best Argentine wine I've ever had. 70 Malbec, 10 Cabernet Sauvignon, 9 Syrah, 7 Merlot, 4 Petit Verdot...100% yum! — 8 years ago
Had another bottle, Wow! Laura Catena, 4th gen winemaker, grew up in Argentine-Italian winemaking family in Mendoza. Wines, named after her children - Luca, Dante & Nicola - background of the label is the McDermott coat of arms of her American husband, Daniel McDermott. Single-vineyard wine from land belonging to the Laborde family. Deep red with big ripe fruits & smoky oak. Palate plum & jammy blackberry, spice with nice earthy character. Tannins are a bit rustic, lingering ending with toasty oak & spice. — 5 years ago
One of the best wines I’ve ever had. Total Wine sells more bottles of this than any other wine they carry - for good reason. An argentine gem. — 6 years ago
Outstanding smooth Argentine red blend. Drunk with Mauricio Paula and their kids along with a perfectly grilled New York strip. — 7 years ago
I received a selection of Catena wines following an interview with Dr. Laura Catena (to her credit, she's an amazing person and a part time ER doc). Her 2014 High Mountain Vines Cabernet displays glorious aromas of black currant, anise, mocha, exotic spice, and cedar. Medium weight, elevation has endowed this Argentine Cab with elegance and silkiness stitched against a backdrop of fine tannins and high acidity. It’s fresh and intense with a finish that flirts with saline-tipped minerality. — 7 years ago

2016 vintage. Stemmy, fragrant, floral, much lighter than Cahors or any Argentine example. Candied violet, crabapple, blackberry, elderberry, incense, anise, tarragon, Thai basil. Really fun, especially with a little chill. — 5 years ago
