Still a very robust wine. Not in the least past its prime. There’s a lot of fruit left, but there’s also a lot of oak., even after 26 years. This has dried out the wine a little bit. Don’t make too much out of my criticism. The wine is very enjoyable, so the bottle was finished without any complaints from my friends at the table.

Give it 20-30mins to open up and try to keep the temp cool. Keeps the fruit and flavors very concentrated. Has that little smokiness/toasty that we fell in love with Charlopin wines for backed up by dark cherries. — 8 years ago

Dark fruited built on an acidic framework with firm but fine tannins. Interesting reductive ( in a good way) for a house that is reputed to use little sulfur. But this 1er has chops for sure (my first experience with Bel-Air), which immediately confirms that its neighbors are all quite “grand”! — 7 years ago
