In a perfect place. Always love Bize and with some nice age this is great. Excellent pick from the somm at Daniel. Beautifully aromatic with wonderful fruit. Just a slight hint of tannin, but still good lifting acid on the finish. Great pairing with both a skin-on black bass as well as a nice strip loin. Long finish. — 4 years ago

2020 vintage drunk September 2024. Huge mouth feel, a big Chablis. $60 — 9 months ago
The 2021 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru retains its serious and backward nose, very saline and still with that faint tang of kelp/Japanese nori. The palate is beautifully balanced with a keen thread of acidity, notes of orange rind and a more malic finish than I recall, yet with the same wondrous elegance and poise. This will age wonderfully in bottle and require time for the aromatics to awaken. (Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2023)

Had the 2004 in Willamette valley at Antica Terra from their benchmark wines collection — 4 years ago
Reduction, slighty sulphuric, flinty smoke. On the 2nd day it opened up with red apples and lemonpeel, still some flint and wet stones, very tight and fresh style. Minerality like drinking a quarry. Amazing value. — 6 years ago
This is one of the very best bottles of Chablis I’ve had. Intensely pleasing. Amped up. Everything I love about white wine. I am really sad that I only had one bottle but thrilled I got to experience it at its peak. — 6 years ago
Hola!!!! Smelled like arse and then became this beauty. — a year ago
Notes of plum, earth, soy sauce. I thought tannins were still fairly pronounced but not rough. Lovely pairing with our smoked abalone and black cod….. — 2 years ago

My first time here in Chablis! I chose to have with dinner (Wine Not, a fantastic wine bar & restaurant in Chablis) a bottle from a winemaker who doesn’t need a great deal of introduction nowadays. Samuel Billaud has fast become one of the region’s most exciting winemakers, so I was eager to try something of his. This was on the list for the veritable bargain of €65. Mont de Milieu is a premier cru from the right bank of the Sereine, a vineyard which shares a very similar aspect, and soils, to Les Clos. The 2020 here is a wine of immense presence, structure, classicism, with a slight hedonistic character. The flavours lean toward the fuller side of the spectrum, with flavours of marzipan, orange peel and fresh cut marmalade, with a hint of honey. But there is terrific zip on entry, incredible minerality; any weight to this wine is lean, muscular and structured, possessing deft acidity, a lovely herbaceous quality (think tomato vine) and a finish to die for. I’ve immediately bought four bottles of this back home and can’t wait to enjoy it again. — 9 months ago
