Opened up more after an hour. Definitely a Haute Medoc. Chewy and tobacco.

Nice evolution. Has the graphite and dust going. Slightly hollow, but good freshness.

Always interesting to try a haut-medoc from 1996. This one is past its prime. Interesting but like your grandfather is interesting. Slate, dust and faint hints of a bygone fruit.
