1996 Screaming Eagle. Dinner at Tap w S&L DiM and P&S Co. Superstar. We all remarked how unbelievably balanced this wine was, despite how big it remained at 20 years old. Finish lasted forever and was a truly memorable finish to the evening. — 9 years ago
After breathing for a moment, this Pinot quickly opened into a silky soft, yet extremely complex wine — 9 years ago
For me, a bit herbal tonight with excessive drying tannins (very UN-Pichon Lalande like), but others thought it much better, just lacks the lush P-L profile. — 11 years ago
Cherry, blackberry, black tea, tobacco. Excellent structure backdropped by a loamy minerality / some earth. — 8 years ago
Buy when it gets hot outside or for a hike. — 8 years ago
Rocky Grenache. Very reductive. Took 45 minutes to blow off, but afterward had great red fruit and violet aromatics. Tannin has integrated well, but probably doesn't have much life left from here. A little dusty. — 9 years ago
A fascinating wine — 9 years ago
Bright and juicy with the nimbleness of a ballerina. Nice light warm up for the palette and the onslaught of juice about to occur.☝🏼️ — 10 years ago
Very agreeable. A summer go-to for this vintage and the previous as well. — 11 years ago
Smell like lemon and fermenting pizza dough. Peach, pineapple, cream and a dry, persistent finish. This has weight and length. Really good for the price — 8 years ago
The wine is dark and juicy, with black currant and black raspberry aromas, but the nose has a distinct savory side to it, with cedar, olives, smoke and sassafras. The palate brings a textbook darkness, with earth for miles and miles and miles. It's just about pitch black, and that's okay, because I've got a flashlight. There is a heavy note of oak spice, a tongue-teasing acidity and a tannic structure that demands meat, make that steak, make that ribeye. — 8 years ago
3rd wine if the night that we enjoyed throughout the night. I've often spoken about this. I love it. Opened 2 hours prior to tasting but it really hit the ground running after 4 hours. Insanely great Pinot. Drinks like a a phenomenal Burgundy. Good luck finding a better one in Napa!😜 — 9 years ago
This wine packs a punch! Pungent upon smell and going down, but man oh man do I love it. Sweaty socks is right. I don't usually go for a gamay, but this ones my jam. — 9 years ago
It's hard to imagine now, but there was a time in my life when I thought I didn't like Beaujolais! — 12 years ago
