fantastic macerated strawberry carrot seed brick color with an explosive strawberry rhubarb nose. it’s got the remarkable mouth-coating viscosity of chicken soup - an unctuous bath of black pepper, cranberry skin, lemon rind, wood ear, chili flake, shale, bonaroo, and cough syrup (in a good way, baby). — 2 years ago
2018 villages wines are just drinking wonderfully at the moment and great value — 4 years ago
I don’t drink Northern Rhône enough, but this terrific single vineyard Syrah crafted by the late, long-time Latour cellar master Denis Malbec is for sure nothing like new world Syrah.
The nose was filled with fresh dark cherry and raspberry, and turned to parades of cedar, fresh herbs, vanilla, dried mushroom, and light smoked hays. Slight hint of dried rose petals too. On the palate it had a richer feel than the nose would indicate. Dark spices and earthy minerals with sharp acidity. Polished tannins. — 4 years ago
Light, slate, minerality, summer wine — 4 years ago
The first edition of Jardin d'Ulysse, based on the 2015 vintage and disgorged in 2021 has aged beautifully in bottle. It’s really picked up intensity and generosity since it was first released. It definitely needs air, in fact, I’d have it open an hour or so in advance. It’s a taut, racy rendition with a stunningly silky texture while simultaneously rich with just the slightest oxidative complexity that’s beginning to build and only adding to its attraction. Its floral, spice and citrus inflicted aromatics are layered between its chalky mineral core and the palate is chiseled, full bodied, satiny and concentrated, with structure built to age. It’s only going to get better. Love these wines 🙌🏻 — 6 months ago
Tasted blind. Amber tawny, not too thin. Northern Rhone nose, very exotic. More specifically you can guess Cote-Rotie on this wine just from the nose. Notes of black fruit, graphite, gravel and what my wife would say is dirty socks. Guessed 89 La Turque, which (looking back) is a complement to how well the 61 performed today. — 4 years ago

Very yummy. Light body that opened up like a flower after only a few hours. Really enjoyed this especially for the price. — 9 months ago
Extremely good but still infanticide. — 2 years ago
— 3 years ago
A very interesting wine. A very difficult vintage that the winemaker addressed with stupid low yields. If you love wine, a great wine to drink to see how a very good winemaker handled a rough year in non elite terroir. His 1er crus were sick in 17.
Nose is purplish. Dark. Swirling. Sexy. But a bit Brutish but in a sexy way.
Palate is dark fruit. Very very dense for a wine at this level. Very. The fruit outweighs the acidity although it’s not stewy at present.
I’d drink this now. It might peak in 6-12 months. But I have no idea. My gut is the far side of the mountain is steep. But man this is an effing fun drink today. If you have a bunch of save one for a few years just to see what happens. Science baby.

Smooth, light, yet super fruit concentration. Earthy, foresty (is that a word? 🤔)
Basically, solid Cote Rotie and we liked it! — 5 months ago
