An intensely subtle wine. Just a whisper you could barely hear after the Allemand. But when you listened it spoke of smoke and integrated layers of flavor. I don’t think this will age much more. Great to drink now or for a few years. Extremely fine tannins but lacking on mid-palate depth. — 7 years ago

This smelled putrid at first. Serious swamp-water reduction. I’m surprised that it (mostly) blew off to reveal a wine of intense depth as well as some oxidative/barrel notes. This was quite super. Far better-made than most Chablis. A rebuy for sure, even at this price. — 7 years ago

Ozanne Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay
I had this wine just a few days before. It is remarkable how much this changes based on the kind of glassware it’s served in. The smaller stem, Zalto Riesling, gave it more precision, the burg bowl made it diffuse and hard to pick out individual aromas. The bubbles were overwhelming out of the bowl, too. A fascinating wine. Seemed as if it would open more with air, then closed down. Then opened to reveal purple fruits and some lacquer, hallmarks of a modern style, but very integrated and the tannins extremely fine. Fun, if not the wine you’d reach to. Oh yeah, and pyrazinez, too. — 7 years ago
