This winery is dear to my heart. Tim Mondavi bought the vineyard as part of Continuum. Sold a ton of this wine back@in the day.....good friend brought this bottle that we got from owner when we were sitting by his pool on a visit about 6 years ago...wine is fabulous!!! Big berry fruit, good hint of herb and kirsch and creamy chocolate character....miss this winery!! Cool stuff!!! — 9 years ago
St. Makes has dark brown color, complex malts along the porter-stout continuum. 32 ounce refillable container. Will journey to Claremont to refill. — 9 years ago
This is so plush and well balanced...the nose is restrained with light tea leaves and pencil lead, followed by silky dark fruits, menthol, and delicate spice that flow seamlessly across the palate...finishes long with tannins that grip just enough to let you know they are there, but not so much to disrupt the satisfying continuum of flavor.... — 5 years ago
Nice bottle thats not over extracted, first time having this 👍🏼

This vertical was Spott on... lol
All textbook Cabernets (Bordeaux blends) operating at a very high level. The wines appropriately represented their region, as well as their vintage. It was like worlds sharpest conductor instructing his/her orchestra never skipping a beat. The 12 Spottswoode was soft, juicy and deliciously ripe. The 13 Continuum a bit dry with firm tannin and a commanding presence at the dinner table. The 14 J. Davies- Jamie was calm, collected and fragile with silky integrated tannins, and long uplifting finish. And of course two grilled 16 ounce bone in ribeyes with a classic hollandaise sauce and baked potato. — 6 years ago
Amazingly pure fruit and open knit inviting tannins for a’14. Dark as midnight in the glass, a thread of graphite unites flavors of blueberry, cassis, oak and dense blackberry jam. This wine has a flavor profile much like Continuum in terms of depth and polish with perhaps a bit more concentration at this stage. Appreciated the opportunity to enjoy this @Jason Chang — 8 years ago
Easily my #WOTN Luscious, complex and stood up to the Merus wines which is not easy to do. Beautifully integrated and supple tannins with a one minute finish. Sad story on #CloudView but what a legacy. Now home the beautiful wines of #Continuum — 9 years ago
Oh baby and I don’t mean maybe - winner winner chicken dinner - with the WNH gang on a Sunday night Italian IGT tasting via super Tuscan - this wine became commercially available wine in 1968 and since then it has risen quickly in fame - the 2015 as well as the 2016 are getting ridiculous scores from critics - like Bordeaux first growth scores - 97 plus from all - yes it a baby and as such I double decanted - i have more and I have much older vintages so this was my attempt to see what the hype was
Well the hype is real - patience is rewarded - 4 hour decant and every glass got better - in hour six this was incredible and went from a 9.5 to the 9.7 I gave it - 85% cab with 15% CF - reminds me of a great Bordeaux or great Napa blend like Continuum maybe a 2010 vintage as far as taste but leaves there and goes further - chiseled tannins integrated in a rich supple deep ruby color pushing red blue and black fruits elegantly- this could easily go another 30-40 years - and it will get better - in ten years this is 9.8 or higher - my face is broken from smiling so much! — 5 years ago
Somewhat off-putting nose which is dominated by petrol. The palate however is on the opposite end of the continuum. The first thing that hits you is the viscosity and weight. It possesses an uncommon density for a Riesling. Notes of brown sugar and a hint of nutmeg combine with delicate acidity. Very sweet finish, similar to a dessert wine. A very pleasant surprise. — 6 years ago
If you read my other post....I'm thinking it's (partially) me. Another wine that I usually rate high, but my rating falls short from my typical Opus rating. After my disappointment with the Continuum, I opened this. Was more pleased, but these are two wines I typically would rate 9.4+....so very odd I rated both on the lower 9 end of the scale. Must be me. — 8 years ago
Remarkable evening last night at VHR sponsored tasting of the 2014 vintage VHR. Heather and Bruce (@Bruce Phillips) hosted a lovely evening for the VHR faithful popping a Shramsburg Champagne toast with heavy appetizers followed by comparison of the 2012 and new 2014 vintages. Notes for 2014: Obviously young, but the aromatics hitting the nose are alive and run the continuum of all the green leaves in your spice drawer mixed together. Heavy mouth feel with flavor from the darker end of the spectrum: licorice, dates, tobacco. Finish is long and constant. Will be interesting to see how this one changes over time. — 9 years ago
Wonderful with rich fruit lifting it through special Zinfandel nuances like cocoa and vanilla. There is a continuum of rich flavor from beginning to the long finish. An inexpensive wine that touches all the bases. Well done! — 9 years ago

Tobacco and loamy earth, saddle leather. Cedary dark red fruit and some Asian spice. Black cherry. Long, long finish. Outstanding bordering on profound. — 5 years ago
