Fresh, juicy, uncomplicated Barbera from 15-20 years old vines in Castiglione Falletto and La Morra. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak for 16 months. Bright ruby color. Red fruit and earthy notes. Medium-bodied, tart red fruit (sour cherry, strawberry) on the palate. Light tannin, racy acidity. — 5 years ago
Medium Ruby with complex aromas of floral, dark berry fruits, herbs and oak notes. On the palate raspberry and ripe cherry, savory with oak spice, a fresh earthiness and tightly wrapped spices. Tannins are very firm and needs at least 5 more years to start showing some finesse. Ling finish ending with fruit, herb and earthy mineral. Let this one sit for a while. A little pricy. Truffle, earth and mushrooms notes went hand in hand with truffle pâté. Developing and unlikely to improve with further aging ... drink now — 8 years ago

Tobacco, leather, dark dark cherry, blueberry, wild mushroom on the nose. Medium/strong tannins. Excellent smooth finish. Bright cherry (typical Italian), Coca-Cola, dark chocolate on the palate. Barolo is Barolo. It rarely disappoints and this certainly is a fine example. — 9 years ago
Had some shipped back from our trip to Sicily. This one is a stunner!!! Oh so good! — 4 years ago
Approximately 50/50 Nero d’Avola and Perricone which is a beautiful blend! High in acidity, quite tannic and plenty of red fruit. Also a “rustic” touch. Everything is still a bit on its own but after some additional cellartime this wine should be stellar! — 4 years ago
Delicious. I preferred the freshness & tension upon opening but open for business towards the end. Masculine wine but still charming. Classic Castiglione. — 7 years ago
Great wine. Long finish and a great nose. Classic Barolo. Need to decant at least one hour before drinking to allow this wine to open up. Very nice — 8 years ago
Very delicious. Very smooth. — 8 years ago
Located in the village of Castiglione Tinella in the heart of the Piedmont Region called the Langhe, four generations the Saracco family has been Moscato d' Asti. Clear, light, almost white, with small bubbles, Frizzante-style. Pronounced nose, floral and ripe white peaches, with notes of honeysuckle. Sweet, the palate follows the nose with the addition of orange citrus flavors with low acidity and nice medium length finish. Tasting Sample. — 8 years ago
Nice medium body wine with great company! — 4 years ago
Delightful nose of cherry, raspberry, strawberry complemented by tobacco, touch of balsamic and hint of truffle. The fruits feel lightly candied on the juicy palate. Medium body, and the tannins command attention.
If the Castiglione bottling is the king, this would be the queen: lively, graceful, yet authoritative. — 5 years ago
From tannico. A dry cortesi that is on the edge of being exceptional. Pair with pasta in cream sauce or sweet Italian cheese — 7 years ago
light and elegant, the best barolo i’ve had in recent memory — 7 years ago
Magic. And while slightly over the hill, still outstanding, with lots of aromas to offer. — 8 years ago

Give it plenty of time in the glass or ideally in a decanter. It is a beautiful wine that needs time to open. Great effort in an off year. — 3 years ago
