Seriously, except for the plots where Rayas and Fonsallette are made, is there any better place on earth for Grenache than Walla Walla? (I know Priorat might want to enter the chat). This is sooooo good. Pure, sappy kirsch run through campfire embers and dusted with sweet spices. So savory and clingy in the mouth. Length for days. Tons of smoky minerals. Love this. — 2 years ago

Had the tempranillo a few months ago, this time it’s the grenache. It’s still wickedly young but putting out loads of cherry and watermelon juiciness and then immediately takes a turn into that rocks district funk. Always impressive how that shines through even when these wines are fresh. — 6 years ago

2014 vintage. Great nose of cherry & spice. Cherry and dark fruit flavors, — 7 years ago
I love Cayuse syrahs but this is a Merlot based Bordeaux style with ~ 50% Merlot and 40% cab franc which is a little like saying I feared a medium bodied wine - was I wrong - so so wrong - killer juice - it was a full bodied baby - almost like drinking chocolate covered raspberries- what a remarkable thing to say for I had to dive through the funk - tons of Aromas of earth, peat, savory herbs and dark flowers lead to soft, sweet, smoky flavors. The texture and richness keep the interest high - almost too chewy - but after a while the wine soften and the firmness was like a waterbed of joy and sin mixed together - JD gives it 95 - will drink fantastic now with a mid decant time and last 2 decades but not sure what bottle rest will do and I think Cayuse makes to drink their wines early on - big smile of approval rating — 7 years ago
In the words of my son, “Bruh!” Dark Cherry and currant, big yet structured, tannin and acidity is in that sweet spot. Paired with reverse seat steak, amazing! — 2 years ago
Started with roasted meat, then as it opened, we got back cherry, currant, boysenberry. Dusty crushed gravel, and definite tobacco leaf. A bit of menthol and orange. — 3 years ago
Rose petal, red fruits, a hint of spearmint. Would pair amazingly well with spiced lamb or Moroccan food. An excellent wine and well priced @ $45/btl — 5 years ago
Now THIS is a wine. Was totally unprepared for how good this was. A fragrant, powerful nose of dark fruit and barbecued meats (complete with smoke). The mid-palate moves beyond the savory introduction with complex notes of black coffee, dark chocolate and plum skins. The finish is balanced, peppery with loitering tannins. Hats off! — 5 years ago
Bought six each of the ‘99 Walla Walla and ‘03 En Chamberlain at auction a few years ago. The WW has seriously over-performed, while the EC’s seemed overripe and perhaps even slightly cooked...until bottle five. Pulled this bottle with the expectation of tasting and perhaps dumping and moving on. Cork was pristine and first sniff stopped me in my tracks. Everything I had hoped for in previous bottles was here- mild to moderate Cayuse funk of wet fur, sumptuous dark fruit, and a nice minerality. Beautiful Syrah. Fingers crossed for bottle six. — 7 years ago
This Syrah is deep, rich, and luxurious with a wealth of fruit. Black olives, game, licorice and spice round out the full bodied palate. A solid wine but hard to justify at $60.

"Odedi"
Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.
Fruity nose and full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Showing black fruits, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, espresso, chocolates, earth, light vegetables, herbs and peppercorn.
This 8-year-old Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon is drinking very nicely right out of the bottle, and even better after 90 minutes of airtime.
Rich and fruit forward. Elegant and complex. Spicy and entertaining.
Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.
Wine Spectator 90 points. Wine Enthusiasts 92 points.
Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine. Will also pair nicely with barbecue meats.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
$45 (current vintage). — 9 months ago
