Founded in 1982 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer and sits on a tree covered knoll overlooking the Napa Valley, with caves that extend for over a mile. Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and tropical fruit, sweet oak, spice and floral scents. On the palate flavors of ripe peach, melon and apple, with vanilla spice, creamy texture. This wine from Saxum is a great value — smooth, even fruit; great balance overall. 79% syrah, 7% petite sirah, 7% grenache, 5% mourvédre. 97 points from Robert Parker and $129 when I bought it from K&L although market looks more like $160 now. — 9 months ago

Beautiful wine. Tasting outstanding. Dark purple fruits and berries, olive brine, dried flowers, cured meat. Its dry lingering finish of fruit and olive just lingers. This is great with 3 hours of air. So glad to have gotten this bottle. Rhone ranger!!! Probably has another 5+ years of evolution in it, maybe more. — 7 months ago
