Past peak but still some nice cassis fruit and acid in there to go along with smokey forest floor notes. Clear quality as elegance. — 10 years ago
Surprised this wasn't more tannic - thought it was very well structured with dark jammy fruits and bell pepper on the nose (actually didn't find the pepper notes unpleasant at all, which I typically steer clear of). Black fruits, charcoal smoke, cracked black pepper all hit high with some light hints of licorice and...jalapeño? All in all a pleasant wine to pair with a homemade Beef Wellington on this anniversary year of the Judgement of Paris. — 10 years ago

Cherry and raspberry and spice. Complex. Purity of fruit clear. Heavy tannin. Long finish. Should be exceptional. — 8 years ago
Love it. This 2008 worked well last night. Crowd pleaser — 9 years ago
Great dinner, tasted the 79; 85; 90; 99; 04; 07; 13. Memorable night! Like most, I thought the '13 was fantastic. The '99 was my favorite, however, showing a little more attitude and personality from a vintage that challenged the winemaker in different ways than the '13. The '85 was also very good. The '79 was past prime, noticeably. — 10 years ago
Drank this over the course of 6 days using Coravin...still too young, but the wine really opened up by the last day. Smells and tastes like a Grand Bordeaux St. Julien wine as it should. I used to this wine to test the Coravin. It is clear that oxidation starts right after the first pour. — 10 years ago

Florally silky delight! Best wine of the night. — 13 years ago
Wine of the night. This wine had EXCELLENT fruit, and showed NO VISIBLE SIGNS of decline. Great powerful blackberry. I was guessing 01 Stag's Leap or Rutherford. Turns out it was Caymus SS 01, but I was second guessing myself on the year because it was a very purple color into the decanter and showing well. The wine had great vanilla on the front, blackberry on the front, and a more youthful middle and finish with some herb. This wine has 10 years left in it no doubt. Whoever cut this one off at 2017 has no idea. This one literally showed no signs of decline whatsoever. Drink by date 2007 - 2030. — 9 years ago
Damn. Memories of date night oh so long ago. Still a mere baby. I've another bottle in storage, perhaps soon. Muscular, still overly (to me) tannic, acidity still high. But still. Can't believe what this costs now. Yikes. — 10 years ago

Excellent bottle. The 01 is supposedly a better vintage but im not sure when it comes to this producer. Clear, day bright, garnet and orange brick like color, medium - concentration, orange/peach rim variation, slight sediment, low viscosity. Nose: sound, moderate intensity, stewed cherries/strawberries/raspberries, floral, spicy and lots of dill pickle and slight game. A mushroom note as well. Palate: dry, med- body, stewed plums over ripe cherries/strawberries, lilies, dill, vinegar, leather, button mushrooms, game, mulch with some cedar and coconut. Very complex. Med- tannins, medium alcohol, high acid, long finish. Between the 01 and the 98 its a tough choice of which one to put in the wine cooler to store. — 12 years ago
Jordan is always good... Thinking it would have been better with a steak than the Chicken Parm at Runway 84... Thank you Ralph and the crew from Las Olas... What is better than Thursday night at this place... The chick from Mob wives by the bar taking pics... Chicken Parm and a good Cab... Ahh.... Youth is waisted on the young!!! — 12 years ago

Fortunate enough to have tasted this along with 6 other stunning wines last night during a cellar tasting. This 36 year old 2nd growth was nearly perfect, unusual but very pleasant mint, camphor, crushed sage and rosemary aromas with the same cooling delicate herbal initial palate. Dried but expressive red fruits mid- palate with a great structural graphite element throughout. Whiff of new leather. Changed in the glass showing different mellow facets. Pretty much intercepted at the exact right time. A real privilege to taste such a renowned vintage with folks who appreciates what was in front of them. — 8 years ago
