My first time trying the CH rosé champagne. Their Brut is my favorite NV champagne, so I was glad to finally get my hands on some of this. Not surprisingly, I loved it. Similar to the Brut, certainly a battle between fruit and savory yeasty notes, but more strawberry skin and rhubarb pie adding some spice to it. It’s got that streak down the middle showing the older vintage wines they add to these (which I love) adding a bit of English biscuit and caramel. — 6 years ago
Characteristics of a Pinot but a bit spicier and racy — 7 years ago
Went to a tasting and they were featuring Chalk Hill, winery now owned by Bill Foley, of Foley Family Wines, who continues the traditions that Fred Furth, who founded CH in 1972. Had this ‘16 about a year ago. Rich deep straw color with aromas of stone and tropical fruits and citrus notes. On the palate ripe apple, sweet melon and lemon flavors with gentle vanilla toasty oak. Well balanced on lingering finish ending with oak and mineral notes. Aged well. Tasting Sample. — 7 years ago

Opened this afternoon. Very astringent finish initially with lots of oak and ash. The nose initially was worthy of a 96. Wildflowers, herb-rich, sweet fruit, but quite a bit of oak. Palate was soft, yet rather powerful. Wild herb, black cherry, fig, ash, sweet tobacco and rather complex. Would have gone perfectly with a marinated pork loin and herb roasted potatoes. Still getting quite a bit of astringency and acidity on the finish. Capable of so much more. Goes to show you the structure of the second wine of Ch Margaux! — 6 years ago

Awfully strong with good tannins — 7 years ago
Opulent and complex. Green apple, peach, a bit pipe apple, brioche, fresh bread dough, chalk, sea shells, and hint of toasted nuts. Savory and crisp at the same time. Splendid acidity. Super energetic mousse, though lacking a bit refinement.
Base wine is 2011, disgorged 2018. This and the Bollinger Special Cuvée are two of my favorite NV Champaign from larger houses. With 40% reserved wine averaged 10 year old, the CH Brut Reserve no doubt is a better value. — 5 years ago

Nice Saint Emmilion. Fruty with roast aromas. Nice wine. — 7 years ago
These are so good after some bottle time post-disgorgement. Noticeable increase in complexity and length, open for business. Rich, vinous, powerful, classic Ouriet style of gentle oxidation balanced by pristine acid. “White Burgundy with bubbles.” Breadth and depth, golden orchard fruits, slightly baked, cherry blossom, sweet citrus, hazelnut, toffee, curd, chalk and wood spice, savory mushrooms, damp chalk, jasmine, kiss of honey. Grippy, lengthy, zippy, all the best things at once. 70 PN 30 CH, 52 months on lees, 11/2015 disgorgement. — 7 years ago
Great as always, carrying more spice and starchy components, still weighty, nice power. 60 PN 40 CH; 12/2016 Disgorgement; 2.6g/L dosage. — 8 years ago

Slightly oxidized notes give way to orange grind notes. There is a hint of honey and a zing of lemons.. nice mid palate and finish . Very enjoyable — 5 years ago
