Cherry and blackberry, still yummy! — a month ago
Refreshing almost dry Rosé. We enjoyed it with chicken and by itself. Flavors of strawberry, citrus and minerals. — a month ago

Beautifully deep claret with tight tannins that required a good 1-2 hours of decanting to unlock the wine’s texture. The blend is darker fruit with an outwardly apparent Cabernet Franc element that brings violets on the nose and blackberry and brambles on the palette. At or near its peak with a lot of longevity remaining. — 3 months ago
2016 inviting nose, soft tannins and good finish. — 6 months ago
Never mad about opening Gonon. Delicious as always. Will be really incredible years down the line. — 6 months ago

Nose of red fruits, black cherries, white flowers, mild black pepper, smooth oak. Flavors of ripe cherries, black pepper, vanilla and black currant. Soft tannins. — a month ago
Enjoyed with Pat’s grilled steaks, but lighter than expected. May be my “cellar” storage. — 2 months ago
The 2004 Ausone has a mature bouquet with brambly red fruit, marmalade, leather and touches of cooked meat. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, a little dry and more savory than expected. I feel there is something a little passé about this Ausone, indicative of the time when wines were being pushed a little hard and frankly, I much prefer more recent vintages (including the 2023 tasted alongside). Pop and poured. Very pretty and elegant. Not a blockbuster vintage, but not a slacker in StEm. This Clos Fourtet isn’t flamboyant nor lean, but quite balanced. Deep ruby + purple in the glass, it looks as though it will be heavy and powerful, but it sports lots of potpurri, espresso, and inky black fruits aromatically all wrapped a delicate profile. Good weight on the palate. Very clean (zero Brett). This may lean slightly modern, but the tannin and herbal bite at the finish snap you back to France. Not surprisingly, the last glass was best. No rush here, but a quick dash of air opens the gates. — 3 months ago
This is why I love Bordeaux! $40 bottle tastes like $100! Lovely dark red color with purple and maroon rims. Classic Bordeaux nose of cedar, rust, flowers, and subtle cow shit. Aged cherries, anise, cedar, and lilacs on the palate. Lovely texture that coats and sticks. Medium plus depth and finish. Really good! — 5 months ago

17+ Still plenty of fruit! A little brown at rim, but otherwise little sign that it’s 26 years old, except that tannins all gone and a lot of deposit. — 4 days ago
